Submitting Sites?

GreggytheGreek asked 4 years ago
Question for those out there who are much more Search Engine Savvy than I am?

Does it hurt your page rankings to have a robot submit a site – over and over – to search engines?

I have recently signed up for a submission service, which submits only my top level domain to a large number of search engines. It does this every few days. The same site to the same search engines.
I read somewhere that if you over-submit a site to the same search engine then it actually lowers your ranking?
Is that true? Any of the SEO gurus out here have any info on this, It would be much appreciated.

Thanks!

Submit a site once to a search engine. If you keep submitting like you say you are then you are spamming. Nobody likes to be spammed.

Ideally, over time, any search engine worth its salt should find your site if correctly optimised.

Most of these 1000’s of other “search engines” are just an excuse to get your email address so they can spam the crap out of you. IMO these submission agencies are the only people benefiting – smiling all the way to the bank with your money. <span title=” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” />

instead of submitting in search engines again and again (spam), submit in some quality web directories

Well said. There really is no reason to need to submit them. They will find you, just build a couple social bookmarks or links. Other than that, you can create an xml sitemap and manually submit it through each search engine.
