The Beeb says 185,000 PSPs were sold in the UK during its first four days on store shelves — apparently breaking a record for number of games cosoles sold in the first week of availability. But isn’t it cheating if your retailers have been taking pre-orders for the better part of a year because you’ve repeatedly pushed back your ship date? I mean, a PSP ordered last Christmas is presumably being counted towards first-week UK sales. Isn’t that kind of absurd? If we’re not careful, this type of coverage might encourage Sony to push back the PS3 launch date, three months at a time, until autumn 2008….
