james asked 4 years agothere’s so much hype about links and backlinks etc, and then yesterday a friend of mine said that it doesnt matter. you can have as many as lyou like but if your website is rubbish and the titles arent good enough – you might as well not bother. is this true?

Thanks Brad (with the bug!) and everyone else for your help. Links are the way forward – and you’ve given me plenty to think about. cheers all!

I think you definately need to have both a lot of backlinks and good quality content.
Its relatively easy to get high up in Google, but staying there is another story. In the future I think search engines will study things like bounce rate a lot more, to see if the user found your content useful
And whats the point of getting hits in the first place if your site does not have any decent content that appeals to humans?
