I’ll start this off with the keywords that I think suck:
- slots
- online slots
These were a huge waste of time for me. Got top 10 rankings in Yahoo and the new MSN for both, and get very little traffic and maybe 2-3 real players per month. They seem good in theory, but the reality is, they suck…
The problem is when people search for “no deposit xxx”. That people are not looking to play in general. They are determined. They are determined to not risking any money.
Worse than that are keywords like “new no deposit casinos…”. People looking for that have played in almost all no deposit casinos without making any deposit at all. They’re adding to their search the word “new” because they know they tried almost all no deposit casinos and want to find any new opportunity.
Other bad words are “instant no deposit….”. People searching for that are desperate not only to not risking any money but also to play right now.
I’m not willing to add new no deposit casinos, unless the casino has something more to catch the player attention and to make him deposit.
About other keywords, it seems to me that casino reviews does not attract any reasonable traffic from msn. Don’t know how this keyword is doing on google/yahoo.
One interesting thing is, almost all casinos I have at my websites have bonuses of at least 100% and I also have some with no deposit bonuses. My first real depositing player, played at Cherry Casino, and this casino only offers 30% match. That’s one of the worst bonus offers I have at my sites. Anyway the player choose that casino to make the deposit. Not all people are looking for bigggggg bonuses. That’s good.
Unless my stats are leaving things out…
I have stick by what i said, about “casino bonuses” being a dud.
As far as “free” goes, I have over 1,000 page views daily for the free games on my site alone, attracted by phrases with free in it – and although I’m making a darn good income, I suspect not a lot of it is coming from those free players, so I definitely agree with everyone on that!
I can second that.
And if you’re going after any phrases with “free” in it, you are really wasting your time if you want depositing players. Traffic great – no money.
I get a lot of traffic with the words “bonus” and “no deposit” in it. They convert quite well into new players and quite bad into depositing players. Most of that people are looking for bonus without risking any money.
I have some top 3 rankings for keywords that apparently get over 1000 searches a day, yet I fail to receive 10 clicks a day.
‘online internet casino’ is supposed to bring in 200+ visitors a day. I didn’t even notice a traffic increase.
Just an update, currently #1 on MSN for ‘Best Online Casino Reviews’ and receiving little to no traffic. That was expected however.
This is a great thread! I am currently trying to pick a few good phrases to optimize for. I can look on overture and see how many searches were done for a certain term, but how do you know if it will be a dud or not!?

- internet casino gambling
- online internet casino
Nothing flash in terms of traffic.
Was also ranking top10 in Google for:
- online casino gambling
- internet casino
I’m not sure if I just wasn’t ranking high enough, or if the keywords didn’t get enough traffic. But I also didn’t notice much traffic from these two terms.
Currently attempting to get rankings for:
- online casino reviews
- best online casino
Will post again if any of the engines look kindly on me for these two.
