Yes, … whenever you do a search for [whatever] … you will notice the keywords you entered are bolded wherever they appear in the listed results … including in the domain name.

This would indicate it most definitely matters.

It’s also important from a backlinks perspective. Sometimes you’ll have someone link to you using your domain name rather than anchor text. And if your keywords are in your domain, then they’re automatically in your backlink anchor text too.
