My main money making site is made in Joomla, I’ve been using SH404SEF Url for the Meta titles, as Joomla likes to create a million and one URLs for one piece of data. Today I noticed a problem, I did a rank check as I often do and found we’d slipped in the ranks (almost out completely) and I was eager to determine why that may be.
I found that the Meta Title was displayed as the URL was, and obviously this had an impact on our search rankings.
We did do some very major changes to our site not so long ago, and we are inclined to think that perhaps the SH404SEF Url software stripped the titles out, and Google had crawled the site at that time, and subsequently indexed it. Now that they are OK, and were immediately after the changes, and the pages all show the correct title, yet in the SERPS there are displayed wrong, we are drawn to believe maybe it was because we were crawled at a bad time?
I have done a full Google Crawl fetch in webmaster tools to see if this will sort the problem, but this isn’t the first time it has happened. So, if anybody can shed any light on this, I’d be very grateful.
It won’t let me attach a picture as I am a newbie, but if you PM me, I can probably email anybody a picture if that makes things easier.
