On the other hand, large amount of sites helps for the obvious link building factor and makes you feel a little more safe. If anything goes wrong, you have a handful of sites that you can sell of vs. if you have 2 sites and they get a banana by google, it might turn out bad.
Hope that makes sense, just woke up after a 15 hour work day.
I’ve also been down that route.. it is just not viable anymore. I would concentrate on one good site or 2 max if your a one man band.
I agree 100%!
With our landscape changing so much these days, throwing up 20, 50, 100, 200+ sites with 2 or 3 pages promoting solid brands and just leaving them, are long gone. EG – who’d have thought Ladbrokes would do what they did to USA affiliates.
Plus, with all the added stuff of social media etc etc, trying to maintain anymore than 2 flagship sites, is really hard and it ends up your entire portfolio suffers. It’s like flushing your time down the toilet.
Being a one man show, time is of the essence ” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” />
PS If your culling like I am, then focus on building authority with Google.
At one point, I had well over 200 sites. Most of them were mini 2-10 pages sites. Then one day I sat down and analyzed the traffic, only to find that 98% of my traffic was coming from 2-3 sites.

i think i have 30 live … but only 5-6 are great lol ” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” />
It’s virtually impossible to promote 30 websites, unless you are rich, or have a vast network ” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” /> But if you can do that, then that’s amazing stuff. I’m focusing on a couple of sites at the moment. My original plan of ranking with multiple sites has changed after Google Penguin lol It’s better to have a few high quality sites, than a lot that you can’t properly manage.
