I voted “not sure” as DMOZ has never listed my primary site Online Casino Bonuses – Free No Deposit Online Casino Bonus Offers

I’m not sure why they wont list me… I have submitted to DMOZ several times since Dec-2002 (maybe once a year) with no luck in listing.

Any suggestions?
Is DMOZ that important?
Should I even Care?

I’ve always seen DMOZ as just another link, to another directory. My thinking is, not every site can make it into DMOZ, so concentrate the time and effort elsewhere.

I think it’s nowhere near as important as it once was. I remember seeing a video of matt cutts even saying that google doesn’t really pay much attention to dmoz any more.

Yes, it used to have more effect. Having a link form Dmoz will not get you number 1 in Google but it is still a link non the less. I would not say no to getting one if it was possible. Good luck getting your site included.

I have even applied to be an editor with no reply.

I submitted my main site few times, but never got listed.
Don’t have a clue what is the criteria over there since I have seen a lot of bad sites listed and even more good sites not listed.

So for me that story ended long time back – will never bother with them anymore.

I wonder if they are actually updating it any more? Has anybody been approved lately?

DMOZ is very unusual. I had one of my websites approved in DMOZ in 2007. My website was in DMOZ for about 2 years, and then one day it was removed by someone. I was pretty shocked, considering it took me so long to get my link in DMOZ in the first place. When my website was at its peak in Google, it was doing amazingly well (long after the DMOZ link was removed). I won’t say DMOZ is not important, but you can certainly do well without it, if you have a lot of high quality backlinks. Onlinecasinosuite.com is not in DMOZ, and they are one of the industries leaders in terms of Google rankings for big casino related keywords.
