In-text links do make it into SERPS, as Google sees fit.
Google purposefully obfuscates how it treats links. We can all speculate forever, as they do on the SEO boards.

If google are applying block level link analysis, sig links seperation will be taking place (I believe they are). Links in actual posts will carry more weight.
One would think they would have developed a system to ignore the links long ago but it seems they have never taken the issue up.
Be nice to see them finally attack the issue then those abusing the privilege those that have numerous links to their own sites in many cases multiple links to multiple pages of just one site might feel a pinch.

indeed i did over-optimize probably, except this its a mess all over, no clue or structure to be found in falling in the SERPS,
even a very small not gambling and very clean website is affected
am i still above you on a certain long-tail search?
