A few people have asked me to show them how to setup wordpress, what needs doing, and then how to choose plugins – because there are really so many of them out there.
For me to install a wordpress plugin, it
- Has to be available on the wordpress site, or through the install interface. (trust factor)
- Must have been released a few times. (stable)
- Compatible with my version of WordPress. (stable)
- And off course do what I need doing!
I find that with every install these days, I install the following plugins :
- Web Ninja GA – to install Google Analytics
- SEO Ultimate – Does fantastic SEO work for your blog
- Google XML Sitemaps – all sites should have xml sitemaps!
- Link Juice Keeper – worked hard for those links, dont let them go to waste!
- WP-Table-Reloaded – makes sexy looking tables, with all sorts of cool features
- Contact Form 7 – every site needs one?
Thats my must have install list – there are a few others, but… not as nearly as important to me as what I have listed above.
Would love to know what other people are using, and why!
