hi, my site has been up now for about 4 weeks and i have been tweaking and changing the meta description and title tag every few days, and i got myself from 100 and something down to 5 (google uk) and 12 (google.com) for the search term i want, in 3 weeks, my site gets crawled every few days so yesterday i changed my meta descripition and when i check this morning im 169 in google uk and not even registering in google.com…anyone know how this happens? my site hasnt been crawled for the new meta description as its still showing the old one, i havent made any drastic changes to the site, just add my most wanted keyword (phrase) ‘best slots bonus’ in a few times in the the opening paragraph to my page and iv added a few links at the bottom of the index page to some web directories that i have submittted my site to? if anyone could take a litle look at my site or maybe shine some lght on this, is would be of a massive help to me, im very new to casino affiliating, (do other see there sites jump around on google) i had the number 1 result in google uk for a few hours about a week ago…also i use rank checker tool to check my postion

im hoping it is just google jumping around, on the links side, im really really trying lol, its hard, with only pr0 on my index page nobody seems to want to know, the content on the win at slots page is my content, i originally wrote about 5 guides/strategies for my original website casinoslotsadvice.co.uk which now redirects to the bestslotsbonus site, the original guides are on my other site newcasinobonuses.co.uk, so no content theft there, how do you check if someone has copied content? do you google a paragraph of the text?
thanks for your help

I’ve confuddled myself. How long does a google dance usually take?

Indefinite, although a week to 10 days is about right. Sometimes longer.

Depends on their quality testing of search results. Since it’s all algorithm based they definitely scan the internet for all the QQs of people and do internal quality checks.

This is great news. I was just reading your PMs too at the time when I got the email notification.

Keeping the sites the way you have them now is very much acceptable.

I guess we’ll chalk that down to the February Google dance.

sorry it was late last night when i replied to your message carlo, iv only stopped casinoslotsadvice redirecting to bestslotsbonus, by putting up a new site using the domain casinoslotsadvice, im hoping that google will see the change when it crawls next, i have a webmasters account and use it often, its a bit strange at the mo because lots of my old links for casinoslotsadvice when it was up are now showing in my stats as links to bestslotsbonus, sorry if this is confusing to read, its confusing to type but i am waiting for weebly support to get back to me on how to redirect old urls of pages to the new ones….im going to put up the 10 sites that weebly pro allows over the next few weeks and then move onto to wordpress
thanks again for the help..
ps to get back to the original subject on dropping out of google, im jumping around 95-105 in google.com but not in the top 200 for google uk, strange, or is it?

Different platforms have pros and cons. I’m unfamiliar with weebly to be honest but one of my favourite platforms is WordPress with Dwoo templating

Some things that you can do to help is add a google webmaster account and see what’s going on and what the spiders are doing with regards to your site. pretty easy to setup.

regarding the redirect, i have stopped this and have instead put up a new site using that name, but until google crawls that new site it still shows the title and meta description for bestslotsbonus, so im sure googles not liking that.

how did you “stop” the redirect? tell me or PM me the URLs

also whats annoying is that i have changed my page titles but these are in google and they come to a not found page shown by my host, im using weebly to design and host on (pro) before you all tell me to get on wordpress, im working on it..but weebly is really easy for me,

… but sadly carlo i cant get access to the root files to make changes like the ones you mentioned

this should be a standard part of your hosting. to be honest, you won’t always need access to this level for “simple” hosting but if you can’t get access to it when you need it, well, that’s a concern. I’d find a host that permits this.

You can redirect in general.

What doesn’t sound right is to link an article on one site to the identical article on another site when you own both sites and redirect.

The google bot will follow the link and get redirected and so on and so on.

I just wouldn’t put identical articles on two sites of mine and interlink.

Make the article on one of the sites different. You can then quote from the original article and link that.

But with the redirect you are still sending google for a loop when you link between two sites of yours and one redirects to the other.

Just my opinion, I am just a webmaster and not a pro SEO.

In general and regarding duplicate content and redirection I have a few comments:

Dupe content isn’t as harsh as what people might think, that said it’s not a good thing and eventually will hurt your long term strategy. Bottom line, google will make a decision on “who got there first” and the dupe content will be eliminated to some degree from the SERPS for core and optimized terms.

Secondly, redirection. You can do this one of many way, the key is to find the correct way. A 301 is a permanent redirect. While you put all your efforts into maximizing the benefit to one website, you may have had that site hosted and listed under another domain in the past.

A 301 will permanently redirect to the new domain and in my opinion is a much better solution to leaving two or more domains redirecting to one domain without any instructions to a web spider (say google bot).

Have a quick read here and look into your options. I’m very well versed in Apache admin if you have questions and I’ll do my best to offer some advice for your consideration.
