But I think that the generous bonus offers don’t attact experienced players.
The new version of my site cyberspacegambling.com I am still working on won’t have single banner.
If they are flashy banners, yes, I look away. If they blend with content I still see them.
I can say for myself that I am pretty fed up with the standard 468×60 and 120×600 banners and I tend to look away and avoid them. That said I really like square banners
125×125
250×250
300×250 (not so square ” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” /> )
and I for one would also click on them if the promo or product appeals to me in any way.
In general I also think that good gaming banners convert better than banners for other product because the players like the bling bling, I think
I never use obtrusive banners – they are just too annoying.
Banners DO help brand recognition and can support a content piece that is focused and relevant. Banners can immediately attract the attention of a player if placed in a strategic area.
Obviously, content-based affiliate sites are the way to go nowadays. However, when used in moderation, and when designed well, I am not opposed to placing a visual cue alongside content.
They are branding tools, the more often the visitors are exposed to an image, no matter if they consciously look at it, the more familiar they will be with the name. The more familiar they are with the name, the more likely they are to pick it when they are ready to play.
That is tried and proven in all industries, and ours is no different.
What is different is that affiliates provide this branding for free, they are only paid for performance. There are literally millions of sites out there providing free branding, even if the owners never make a cent.
Being paid for impressions has fallen completey by the wayside.
Branding itself is not practiced much in this industry anymore, look alike billboard type casino sites in various colors and joomla and VB affiliate sites, all a dime a dozen and not memorable.
This is why paying by impression isn’t working – since none of the sites are memorable, it’s all about getting the click now or losing it forever.
If you ask me, this is a really unproductive way of doing business.
This industry needs to rethink and regroup the way it does business.
Is also interesting to note other industries where banners are huge! I think how and where you place them matters also. Good thread.
Which industries are banners huge, just out of curiosity? I haven’t clicked on a banner in who knows how long…hence why you will see them disappear from CAP. :3eyes:
