With so many programs either going out of business or retroactively changing their terms and conditions on affiliates the question is cpa or revenue share?

CPA is good, when u working for short living brands. because if the brand gets sold most of the time aff’s suffer a lot. like referback soldout, and similar stuff. So if the brand is stable and solid Rev share is best, but CPA is safer in most of the cases, also depends what CPA deal actually you close with and baseline filters.
Voted Rev-Share however for any affiliate with NCO we go with CPA. It is good to have a mix of the two but with the emphasis on rev share for the longer term strategy.
This is a never ending question and really cannot be answered, since it also very much depends on your needs. Some would prefer to get stable $5000 a month, then to earn one month 0 and one month 12k.
For me, mixing rev-share and cpa is the way to go.
More and more programs are trying to screw their affiliates these days. There is no such thing as lifetime revenue share. Just look what PokerStars did, they limited rev share to 2 years. Another example is Bwin.Party affiliate program which pays only 5% after 3 years of player life. So, if you can, go with CPA or Hybrid deals.

No offence, but we all know that there are a lot of CPA hunters and scammers plus you never know when you will get banned by the affiliate manager because “you most probably cheated, we dont how but you did it”. So keep yourself on rev. share, it needs more time to get hard cash but one day you will get it!
If you have old well-maintained site, focused on niche or few niches relevant to each other, it’s always better to choose revenue share. However, we have to become aware of rogue affiliate programs that change the rules, and steal all of your customers. hno:
