Anyway for 9 years I have used netsolutions to buy my domain and now thinking of changing to godaddy. What concerns me was something I read awhile back about how godaddy sites do not list well or something of that nature. I was wondering the risks of changing registry companies?
Please dont troll me on this ” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” /> lol but I am jsut curious
OK, small print over.
Do NOT change to GoDaddy. Your current registrar isnt the best either but please dont change to GD.
It wont directly harm any rankings you have but it may place you in a position you’d rather not be in. I am afraid I will not go into more details at the moment as the wording will have to be carefully handled. Let me put some thought to it and see if I can come up with some sensible wording for a post on this topic.
I think maybe these two things are getting confused.
The reason for not using them as a register is they will hand your domain name over to anyone who can craft an email.
How to rank in the top 10.
Get your site to rank at #100 then drop the Godaddy domains above you!
I have thought carefully about how to answer this as it is an awkward area and I don’t wish to place myself, CAP or anyone else in a position they would rather not be.
So….
I would suggest you read the Wikipedia entry for GoDaddy
Go Daddy – Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Please read all of it, including the controversial aspects at the end of the entry.
“It is rumoured” there are many more that are unreported and not included on sites such as Wikipedia. I couldn’t possibly comment if I know about many dozens more or not.
The ultimate decision as to what registrar you use is up to you but I STRONGLY suggest you check the terms of service, privacy policy, acceptable usage policy and any other legally sounding docs that you probably automatically click when you reg a domain.
I warn you though, they have quite a lot – GoDaddy.com Legal Agreements | View Our Terms of Service Agreement
Somtimes you need to read between the lines!
