APCW Poll : Healthy Income

Integrity asked 4 years ago
The APCW would like your help in gathering some statistical information about affiliate programs performance.

In this thread I am asking: “How many of the affiliate programs you promote actually bring in healthy and steady income?”

Webmaster A is making more but may be in it for the short run like a lot of poker affiliates with a finite source of players. If the player source is finite, staying with one place is fine and webmaster A is smart.

If webmaster A is in it for the long run, he has no freedom whatsoever – the one program owns him. He can be manipulated with ease.

Not smart.

Surely a webmaster could just divert his traffic to another site, not quite sure how he would get locked in, he might loose out on some privileges for some time but if he can provide a healthy stream of players then most affiliates will welcome him with open arms.
In my opinion Webmaster A is doing the best no question.
As far as I see, it is a sellers market and we are the sales people <span title=” title=”” class=”bbcode_smiley” />

well I appreciate both Gooner’s pov and Int’s and I’ll tell you why.

I appreciate Int’s for face value. you ask me it that program makes me a healthy income and I can answer it without a lot of thinking. which is what i think was Int’s intention.

Now that said, it is often times i find myself shaking my head because I’ll be in conversation with a couple of others and somewhere along the way it comes up that programX was what one thought a “pretty decent producer”.

then sometime later it comes out to me (thru various means, usually they post a screen shot of their stats) and I see that what they consider a decent producer is in fact (most likely) only one decent sized player at that program.

2 reasons that doesn’t qualify in my book as a decent producer is one the amount isn’t enough (but that part is relative) and the other is that its fairly obvious there is only good player bringing in that profit and I would strongly urge anyone not to judge a program solely its bottom line when there is only one player bringing in that income because if they disappear your little “golden child” suddenly becomes nothing more than another one of the pack that is taking up space on your sites not bringing in any money.

Of course that program definitely deserves attention but I’m just saying don’t go betting the farm on a program because of the productivity of one player.

….. I know I didn’t help bring anything together any better than it was; but I just wanted to say that I totally get where both parties are coming from.
