August 19, 2009 (CAP Newswire) — Pulitzer Prize-winning Washington Post columnist and hugely influential U.S. conservative thinker George Will has written an article that defends the idea that online poker should be allowed freely, Bluff Europe reports.
In the article, Will spoke out against the UIGEA anti-gambling law and speculated that it was passed simply so that state governments and their state-run lotteries could avoid competition from private companies.
In the process, Will wrote a passionate defense of poker itself as a game. “Chess involves logic; roulette involves probability theory. Poker involves logic, probability and something pertinent to military and diplomatic strategy – bluffing.”
