What are you doing, spamming the board members here?

That defiitely makes you very unwelcome!

We do not like spammers, and you do not have the right to pm the members of CAP.

This is definitely a very good reason to avoid your program, sight unseen!!!

My guess would be that the casino went out of business and sold the emails to one person. At this point one would send a piece of mail asking them if they would like to receive a newsletter or whatever one wants to send. If they do, they can respond and the resulting number of adresses will be the real list.

Any other scenario would either be criminal or a rip-off. I think the professor is much too smart to be pulled into a rip-off (the same poor adresses being sold many times over) or to do something illegal.

According to the Professor’s post, he’s offering to sell a casino’s mailing list to anyone who wants to buy it. How is that not promoting spam?

Well, since he is out of town it doesn’t make a lot of sense to ask this since only he knows what he is thinking.

I must assume though that he will use or has used due diligence. Last thing I heard he had decided against selling it anyway.

How come you assume the worst?

he’s offering to sell a casino’s mailing list to anyone who wants to buy it

I don’t see where it says that in his post.

I am the first person to yell foul when bad things happen with email lists – you were not around to see Dean take on a major spammer and me joining in, with the result of having our servers targeted with enough spam to bring them down.

I have a newsletter and it took me some 4 years to collect subscriptions. Thanks to spammers some people who want to get the letter cannot because their ISP blocks it automatically.

Ah, this reminds me to include instructions about white listing in the opt-in message. :D

Anyway, I think you have seen so much bad spam that you automatically assume the worst – which I can understand. I get pi$$ed at it too.
