GuestI just saw this some other place and got a kick out of it so I brought it here. its also purtinent to our situation of course
Stanley Leisure, Britain’s largest Casino operator, will be delighted with ruling by The European Court of Justice in Luxembourg that the Italian government cannot ban foreign bookmakers while it is creating revenue itself from state run gaming.
The Italian government had cracked down when they discovered that Stanleybet, Stanley Leisure’s overseas operation, employed over a hundred Italian agents, linked by the internet, to collect bets on their behalf. They ruled that this constituted a ’threat to public order.’ The EU sent the case back to the national court to revue the Italian governments monopoly on betting and whether it ‘actually serves the aim of consumer protection’.
The ruling will no doubt set a precedent which will no doubt be beneficial to European gamblers, global bookies and the European economy alike. Stanley Leisure hailed the decision adding that it will , ”have far-reaching consequences for betting in the European Union, which is relatively underdeveloped.”

Yikes! Don’t make credit bets with these guys. They have found a way to bring the virtual world into the real world with a punch. (pun intended).
