My sites are in the yahoo search engine but not in the directory.
Why not?
How to get in the directory?I appreciate any help.
April 26, 2005 at 8:24 am #664723AnonymousInactiveThe Yahoo directory can take months to be listed if at all (assuming you are going the free route). For $299 a year they will list you in 7 days ($600 for adult sites, it’s not clear if gambling=adult to them).
Yahoo has actual people reviewing every site submitted and they don’t look so kindly on gambling related sites. My understanding is that they won’t even take a new gambling site in the directory, but I could be wrong about that.
Anyone else have any luck with Yahoo’s Directory?
April 26, 2005 at 10:57 am #664726AnonymousInactiveThe Yahoo Directory for the US ie yahoo.com are no longer allowing express inclusion for Gambling Related Sites – I know this as I wasted $299 going down this route to be informed 7 days later – that express inclusion is no longer allowed for gambling related sites ( BTW I lost my $299 )
For the yahoo.co.uk Directory they are no longer accepting express inclusion for ANY SITES – so in short there is no way to fast track your gaming sites into either.
Just submit your site the standard way ( on the yahoo.co.uk Directory you are allowed to do this ) and wait, and continue to wait, and then wait a bit more – Meaning it could take forever to get your site listed if ever.

Did you try issuing a chargeback through your credit card? If they took your money with no hope of ever having a favorable review, they basically just took your money for nothing. I’ve had some success with chargebacks twice where I felt ripped off after buying advertising. This seems more cut and dry than either of those…
You may still be able to get your money back. It’s worth a try and helps smooth the way for future advertisers.
Good luck!

Paying the inclusion fee, does not guarantee inclusion – it just guarantees an editor of the yahoo directory will review your site. That said it should have been stated quite clearly on yahoo.com that they no longer accept gambling sites via express inclusion into their directory.
I’ve chalked this one up to experience.
April 27, 2005 at 2:30 pm #664782AnonymousInactiveThe fastest way to get into yahoo is to exchange links with a site that is listed in yahoo.
April 27, 2005 at 2:56 pm #664787AnonymousInactiveI think they were discussing a listing in the directory, not the search engine results.

When you bury it in some obscure terms and conditions that they dont have to provide the service you are paying for, it’s still theft. It doesn’t mean because they are a multi billionaire corporation that they should get away with it.
By the way I’m in the uk directory (got grandfathered in) it’s not worth it. Now I have a crappy description whenever I appear in the search results and I’m losing clicks because of it. I have asked them to remove my listing but they refuse to do so.
