Do you hide your WHOIS info ? either by private registration or false details ??? for your gambling websites .
The problem with private registration is that their is a myth around that which says that Google don’t like it … So it bad for SEO!
The problem with the false details is that the ICANN can delete your domain…
The problem with giving your true info that the U.S government.
Did some 1 get arrested in U.S or other place in the world just because he is an affiliate ?
Please share with me what you do in this situation.
Thanks.
June 8, 2009 at 1:41 pm #800542AnonymousInactiveI have never heard of an affiliate getting arrested for running a portal. There was an incident where a sports affiliate took bets over the phone from people he attracted with a website. That is illegal and he did get arrested.

People who can’t get good rankings tend to blame Google and make up reasons instead of blaming themselves. It’s the old sun orbits the earth phenominon, just because it looks like the sun is orbiting the earth, doesn’t mean it really does.
I haven’t heard of any affiliates getting arrested by the U.S. government for just being affiliates, but don’t believe all private registration companies will protect you from the government if you do something illegal either. If you get private registration from a U.S. company like GoDaddy or someone else like them based in the U.S. and the goverment comes knocking on their door for any reason, they would give your name out immediately.

There are plenty of affiliates in the US, probably more in the US than anywhere ore everywhere else. Many of them don’t bother to do private registration, some are completely out in the open. Bottom-line, if you are just getting into this business, you are highly unlikely to be targeted by the government.

July 3, 2009 at 1:24 pm #801585AnonymousInactiveIts usually an option when you purchase the domain or you can simply go back into your registrar and opt for it now I believe – Costs a little bit of money
Never heard of an affiliate being arrested – Have heard of a few Scandy ones getting hit for taxes but thats all – Only thing about whois is that it contains your home address etc and I just don’t liek that online with so many “crazies” out there
