My site got hit very hard by the Penguin Update on April 24th and i lost 90% of my traffic!I have made many changes to my site but i have seen no improvement yet!
I was wondering if anybody had seen any improvements since April 24th?
I am wondering when the next Penguin Update will be?

So sorry to hear this happened to you… but thank you for sharing your experience here in the forums. Just know… you are not alone. A lot of iGaming Affiliates were hit by Penguin.
Anyone in the community have an inkling on what to expect with Penguin?
June 25, 2012 at 5:45 pm #825758AnonymousInactiveGoogle is a box of mystery, it could be today or in four years, the bottom line is they are happy with the current results although many webmaster are not, it may not change for a long time. Watch your rankings, and file a reconsideration beg letter if your not seeing a move. If all else fails 301 it to a new domain name.
June 25, 2012 at 7:30 pm #825762dantMemberI was in position 5 for my main keywords but the Google Penguin Update threw my site back to position 48 for my main keywords!……..today i have jumped back to position 7 for those keywords but that is the only improvement i have seen……….i am still not ranking where i was pre-penguin for hundreds of other keywords(many were number 1 position)!
I am expecting another major penguin update very soon when Google has finished re-indexing websites….as that process takes approx 6-8 weeks so i am told!
As for asking for a reconsideration…….Google have stated that you cannot request that if your website has been hit by Penguin as it is an algorithym filter and you have to just make changes and wait to be re-indexed!
June 25, 2012 at 9:18 pm #825767AnonymousInactiveAt least you have seen improvement.
So consider what you changed and regard that as positive things to do or negative things to avoid.
Any tips as to what changes you made?
June 25, 2012 at 9:34 pm #825768dantMemberYes i have seen green shoots of recovery!
I don`t mind sharing what i changed at all…..that is what forums are for….are they not!
I had many links on the same page that pointed to the same page (i think the Penguin filter has been designed to punish same page links)….i now have zero links on my homepage that point to my homepage and i have bounced back to roughly where i was in the rankings…..and that is all i changed to be honest with you……so that tells me the Penguin filter is to punish sites with same page links!……i hope that helps you!
June 25, 2012 at 11:29 pm #825773AnonymousInactiveThought I read some place that we can plan on monthly updates from now forward…

Monthly google updates?
God forbid. They can mess up only so much at a time.
June 26, 2012 at 2:10 am #825782AnonymousInactiveNote if you were hit for a PENALTY in the update you will see a notice in your webmaster tools account! if not you did not get slapped.

Do not do 301
301 has been shown to work but after about 10 days the new domain gets hit because penalty passes via the 301June 26, 2012 at 7:32 am #825787dantMemberWhat i find most annoying about Google is that they “Lock” their algorithyms away so that nobody knows the “Exact” rules that must be obeyed.
Surely the best way forward would be for Google to tell us the rules and then if anybody broke the rules, punish them!
I like thousands of other webmasters feel like i was punished for not knowing the rules correctly!
It is a bit like driving down an unfamiliar road……not knowing the speed limit…..and then getting a speeding fine for speeding!……lol

I went from position #1 down to #155
So I 301’d the old domain to a different previously nonperforming domain.
The new domain went to position #8.
Then the new domain disappeared.Oddly, the youtube channel is now in position #7
This penguin stuff is hilarious!
