Perspectives Weekly for January 19th
We all know about NETeller… was it really unexpected though? And will it really be that bad? Also, what gives with the UK making poker a game of pure chance?

This has got to be the funniest (in a sarcastic way) video to date. I absolutely loved it!

Look forward to your next broadcast as alwaysJanuary 19, 2007 at 9:42 pm #723523vladcizsolMemberI love the Videos and think they are great here and at GPWA or Casinomeister (industry sites), but I think we may want to be careful about posting laundry lists of the processors that still work with US players on mass media venues like youtube. It’s almost like painting a huge bullseye on their backs and I for one want to keep them around for as long as we can.
I could be wrong, but I believe if our industry had been a little more discrete and hadnt been so “in your face” the government might have left us alone. Those endless TV ads for Poker Rooms and eventually casinos got under the skin of the DOJ and triggered this reaction. I think it would really be best if we played things low key and didnt stir up the hornets any more then necessary.

Thanks as always… you guys help to keep me working hard on these!
Prof…I agree with you about the DOJ and in their face and the bullseye… but it’s kind of a double edged sword.
I really do not want to alert the US government to all the other payment processors… but at the same time we have to get the word out to the players or we’re out of business anyway.
How can we accomplish such a precarious thing?
January 19, 2007 at 10:32 pm #723530vladcizsolMemberThats a tough one. I think we should educate players discretely. This should be done on our sites and in newsletters (NOT SPAM EMAILS PLEASE) and it should be done at the Casino level.
Education is important, but I think its best to avoid mass media channels. If someone has already come to an online gambling site its fine to provide information and to educate the buyer.
I think its best to be as low key as we can so the government thinks we are now “humble” and less of a threat. They can then go back to what they really prefer doing (waging wars on smaller countries, harrassing immigrants, taxing the shit out of the populace, opening our mail etc… Good clean fun)

We probably won’t be educating the Feds as much as we’re educating the players… but I dunno… there are probably FBI agents on my mailing list… how could I tell? :1circling
Professor wrote:…and it should be done at the Casino level.Yea, that the casinos may do…
Too bad they couldn’t do some “educating” months ago before the bill was signed… (PLEASE, NO ONE TAKE THAT COMMENT AND DERAIL THE THREAD!)
