I am working on redesigning and adding stuff to my site.

I made around 15 buttons for the links so the page loads slow

    Netmechanics load times are

    Load Time by Connection Speed
    Connection Speed Download Time
    14.4Kbps 211.47 seconds
    28.8Kbps 107.74 seconds
    56Kbps 56.78 seconds
    ISDN (128Kbps) 27.34 seconds
    Cable (512 Kbps) 9.84 seconds
    T1 (1.44 Mbps) 6.07 seconds
    SDSL (1.544 Mbps) 5.93 seconds
    ADSL (2.0 Mbps) 5.49 seconds

That’s not fast in my opinion.

How do you deal with the load times?
How fast should a page load?
Which load times does your site need to have, that you say it’s ok?

Are there many players that still do not have dsl or faster connections?
I think the page should load faster.
    I appreciate any comments.

    Hi,

You always want your page to load as fast as possible, there are several ways to achieve this in relation to your buttons.

    – Make sure your images are optimized so the file size is as small as possible. There are several tools online that can help you do this (not sure of them offhand). You can also use programs like photoshop / image ready and paint shop pro to reduce file size.

    – When creating your pages, make sure that the image size and width are included in the IMAGE tag, that way your page text will load even if the graphics haven’t loaded.

    – In general text links are said to be better as you can have anchor text (desired keywords) link to the page which is said to help search engine optimization.

    Hope this helps!
