January 21, 2014 at 3:54 pm #835514Kitekat77MemberJust wanted to give a completely independent and unbiased review of this service.
I signed up for this service after being impressed by the webinar and the impressive results displayed within. I ran a geo-targeted campaign specifically targeting one region and in a very small “low hanging fruit” type niche in the casino space.
Month one which cost close to 10k, was touted as an initial building stage where domains and initial link building took place. This went ok. Everything was extremely spammy, but hey it’s black hat, I wasn’t expecting high level white hat link building to be taking place. No traffic and no signups in month one.
In month two I started seeing the shadow domains enter the SERPS. Traffic in the region targeted increased and we started hitting 30-40 hits per day by the end of the month. I also noticed several shadow domains appearing in the SERPS for some good terms, although from my main keyword list only a handful were on page one, and these were 7-10, not in the top 5. All the other search terms I received traffic for were quite random and not on the target list; definitely not the high converting terms that I’d targeted with the campaign.
At the end of month 2 traffic suddenly died and the domains all disappeared from the SERPS. Google had caught on and banned all the sites. Traffic was back to 0. To this point I’d spent close to 20k and had got 3 play money signups, 0 rmps.
Because of this the team extended 2 free months to show what they could do and because results had been so poor. Month 1 saw no traffic at all. Month 2 saw an increase in traffic though it was all coming from spam sources and from countries not targeted by the campaign. The sites were averaging much less than 1 visitor per day from the targeted regions. Likewise, none of my target keywords were ranking and we were picking up spammy irrelevant longtails and lots of very poor keywords.
At the end of this month I received an invoice for another $8500 to continue services. Based on campaign results to date (3 play money players) and the fact I’d spent the best part of 20k, I decided to pull the plug on the project.
Overall, the Fantomaster team are obviously very knowledgeable in the area of cloaking but it seems Google has gotten much better at stopping the spam techniques they use to rank shadow domains.
For anyone else considering paying for this service I would approach with extreme caution. The results were extremely poor and there was no plan B in place by their team to improve campaign performance. If like me you like the idea of making a quick buck via blackhat, be warned that the results shown in the webinar are absolutely nothing like what I saw. I had less than 50 hits in 2 months for the bones of 20k.
While I don’t believe there was any form of scam going on, I would say the results in the webinar are extremely misleading and not indicative of what you will achieve with this service. My advice: save your money and avoid this (expensive) service.
