February 14, 2005 at 12:48 am #661574AnonymousInactiveAny word on these rooms yet? Also does anyone know if the Stardust and Venetian are close to each other?
February 14, 2005 at 1:26 am #661576AnonymousInactiveFrom the Venetian, the Stardust is about a 15 minute walk or a $8 cab fare.

I would like to attend CAC – without having to travel there to be on time in the morning, and with having the choice to pop up into my room to freshen up at a moment’s notice.
I am considering staying first at the Stardust and then in the Venetian….
February 14, 2005 at 12:59 pm #661596vladcizsolMemberThe Stardust is right down the strip from Venetian. If you are feeling peppy its not too far a walk, but I would take a cab.

Several of the casino representatives were full of a lot of promises, but never followed through on anything. They went out of their way to pull people aside and find out if you are affiliated with their group. They seem so eager to have you promote their casino .. offering you a variety of back end options for your private labels .. customizing templates for you, and more.
Then after the convention .. poof .. they seemed to disappear.
What’s that all about? Why waste my time or theirs? You leave at the end of the day feeling like you made some good contacts and that good things are going to happen for the mutual benefit of both parties.
What’s the purpose of all the BS? To make me feel as though my time at the convention was well spent?
WHATEVER .. I am doing very well promoting other casinos .. if they want me to promote their brand, or they want me NOT to promote their brand .. doesn’t really make a difference.
I just don’t appreciate people wasting my time with a lot of idle promises only to realize later they had no intention of following through.
They were simply trying to make it look as though they were actually doing something constructiveObviously some of these people only came to Las Vegas to drink, gamble and party and were not here to promote business.
That aspect of it was a little disappointing.
February 15, 2005 at 12:59 am #661628AnonymousInactiveEh Vegas Lady,
Want to get together with CAP people afterwards though? We have fall break scheduled right after….If not, I’d still like to get together with you at some point.
Also, who made promises they didn’t keep?

Yes, I’d like that!
Guess I shouldn’t have sounded off so negatively yesterday. I really did enjoy the speakers at the convention . . and I certainly enjoyed your company as well.
I did meet some really nice people . . who made it all worthwhile.
As to those who made promises, only to disappear into the woodwork .. :lookaroun .. I don’t want to name names, they know who they are.
Hopefully the Casinos will come up with some sort of plan of “accountability” for those representatives they send to the convention.
I am quite sure it was not their intention either to send a representative (on their expense account) to make offers and promises and BS people all day long, then take off at the stroke of 5 for the casino.
The only acknowledgement I ever received from a couple of these bozos was an obvious mass e-mail .. “It was really nice to meet you at the convention .. blah, blah, blah .. “
I did reply to remind them of what we had discussed and the offers they had made.
Never heard from them again. :dozing:
Nevertheless, the food was terrific .. as was your company, so I guess I’ll see you in September.
February 17, 2005 at 12:33 am #661711AnonymousInactiveShanon, any word yet on the rooms? We are considering staying at the Stardust instead and just found out they are booked up on the night of the 10th which is when we arrive, so I’m getting nervous that due to the conference we won’t have a room…….
February 17, 2005 at 12:53 am #661712AnonymousInactiveVegas Lady – you”ll have to tell me who did that in person then.
If they are there, maybe we will give them a spanking!
Ellen, if you are staying at the Stardust, try to get a room in the old tower on the side that overlooks the garden in the lower 5 or 6 floors. You will get a balconee that overlooks a very peaceful palmgarden and rockers on the balconee. Really nice to relax. I think I will stay in one of those rooms during the CAC and then move on to the Venetian for the CAP fall break….

Oooo . . That sounds like fun . . :rollover::wavey: Ellen . . The Stardust is an older hotel . . at the less desirable end of the Strip.
Since you are coming all the way from Australia – and I am assuming you do not make it to Las Vegas very often – may I suggest that you to stay in one of the more upscale hotels.
I think you would enjoy your stay much more (the overall atmosphere, the amenities, as well as the neighborhood) at say – the Mirage, Bellagio, Venetian or the Paris.

Actually been to Vegas a dozen times, used to play in the women’s WSOP every year before I moved here.
I’ve been in the Stardust just not the hotel but found this which looks fine:

We won’t be in the room much and to make things better, one of the affiliate programs is paying for part of our stay here so it makes it even more worthwhile :la-de-da:I just wanted to get the reservations in and be assured we had rooms, many hotels are full on some of those nights already so we didn’t want to take any chances.
March 18, 2005 at 8:31 pm #663082AnonymousInactiveTell me please… Is there any registration required or smth to participate?
March 18, 2005 at 10:05 pm #663084AnonymousInactiveHere you are:
March 22, 2005 at 5:07 am #663208AnonymousInactiveI’m about 90% sure I’ll be at the CAC2005 convention, and I’ll do my darndest to get the Wizard to go, too, although it’s gonna be a hard sell for him. He brought me on board so I could do all the stuff related to marketing specifically so he wouldn’t have to. He prefers to concentrate on adding content to his site and running numbers for clients. But we’ll see.
I won’t need a room, I’ll probably stay downtown and then ride a bicycle to the Stardust.
