Oh, I get it now.
September 5, 2004 at 9:02 pm #654476AnonymousInactiveLooking for a new MGS group to promote I chose to give Vegas Affiliates a shot … Sure hope it doesnt turn out to be a BIG mistake, but the first weeks results look like CRAP!
I added them to one of my sites on Wednesday Sept 1, 2004
My stats show I sent them 76 hits from the 1st-5th – a tracking system that has proven to be very reliable. So Ive been screwed out of 70% of my traffic – what if that 70% of shaven traffic is the converting portion ??? LMAO!
Anyway their stats show I have sent 23 and they also show stats from Aug24-Sept 1 which is impossible!
I just sent Pierrick an email to see what he has to say …

if only it worked that way Ark I might be able to accept it. (However 70% is pretty steep).
but since I think we’re in agreement that the more sophisticated cheaters are now stealing proven players over simple shaving of clicks; then one must credit incompetent tracking as opposed to intentional cheating.
I mean don’t you think?
but that said, I imagine shaving over clicks is easier done and more appealing to the novice cheat.
Or… / plus, it seems to me they’d be able to spot such serious leakage somehow over a period of time and would be doing something about it, which is what Pierre basically was saying to me in his letter; “wait until the new tracking is installed”, was my take on what he was saying.
of course, that was about 2 months ago, you’d think a program that knows of such drastic tracking issues – if they were serious about making things right and doing good biz; that they’d have moved on it by now.
Or perhaps he was just saying that to me so I wouldn’t go running and tell everybody they didn’t want me as an aff because I might rock the boat.
lol as Dom pointed out; that isn’t out of the realm of possibilities either.
that said: I will give them a try if he ever contacts me again and says “now we’re ready for you”.
one last thing, as I was re-reading this thread, Dom had said at one point: “I might consider that a challenge..”
She’d have been sorry. I promise I’d have cost her much more than she ever was able to take from me.

YES – I agree the drastic difference in stats (mine vs theirs) doesn’t necessarily indicate intentional cheating. On the contrary it only reinforces your previous conversations with Pierrick regarding tracking deficiencies …
As far as them looking for challenge – I had your post and its knowledge going for me when I signed up with them last week I likewise had provide Pierrick with my SERPs listings placement and terms = I had provided him with PPC placement and with previous months stats.
I just put them up on the 1st – its only been 4 days, but the 70% loss in traffic sent is a big kick in the ass! If they dont get off to a quick start (1 month) I will drop them and go onto the next MGS program … eventually I will find someone willing to be at least 10% honest as we had discussed in another thread sometime ago
Hell I know I’m sending high quality traffic and I believe I have quality sites – if they dont wanna give me what I think Ive got coming – then watch “them” bend over cause I wont be!
September 6, 2004 at 2:50 am #654494AnonymousGuestHi again,
yes I think its important to let a program you’re just starting off with : to see you’re more than just another “I got a free weekend and a copy of my brothern’law’s frontpage editor – and I’m even willing to pay the $5 a month for my own hosting…” kind of player
it helps to avoid any “inituation” which under mine, and apparently your circumstances: will mean an end to what could have been a profitable partnership.
because I’m like you in that I’m not going to screw around. I’ll be fair but I’d call doing your own tracking as fair as one can expect to be; and with numbers that far off I’d have no choice but to pull the plug.
The thing is; is that we make most our money off a select few: allowing even one to slip thru the cracks is bullshit.
When a casino lands a player of that value, I guarantee you they do the math and figure out where he came from; regardless of what stats say, incompetent or not:
if they don’t: then they are 1.) stupid and 2.) must be doing a brisk business to be willing to let something like that slip thru the cracks.
*footnote – since I’ve almost always done it : if anybody has ever wondered if I actually DO know how to spell the word “through” : I do. But I refuse to spell an extra 3 letters to spell a word that should have been spelled “thru” in the first place.
September 8, 2004 at 9:47 pm #654674AnonymousInactiveWell got a reply from Pierrick – he said as far as he knew their stats were performed flawlessly … he more or less said I was lying when I told him I had lost 70% of tracking from my stats to his.
I have a bad feeling I’m going to regret adding them!
September 8, 2004 at 11:29 pm #654680AnonymousGuestI have a bad feeling I’m going to regret adding them!
just curious Ark, what’s the standard cut-off point?
in respect to both clicks aknolwedged and your count?
I mean, set aside the letter I got from them, and just go on what you have accumulated from your experience, which I think you said they were only showing 30%, or maybe it was 70%, but anyway, I’m just wondering at what point does it go from a bad feeling to “I’m taking them down”?
*sorry, I had to give you a little shit. You’d think I’d have better things to do with my time.
September 9, 2004 at 1:11 am #654690AnonymousInactiveI wanna give them the benefit of doubt – I just put them up Sept 1 so they havent had much of a trial run.
I assure you if by months end I dont have at least half a dozen players – they will be gone!
My websites must say “please screw me” on their foreheard ???
September 9, 2004 at 1:22 am #654693AnonymousGuest:bigsmile:
I think everybody in this niche has felt the grips of that assumption at one time or another.
Hey I got brave and tried my frontpage replace again on a smaller site and it worked.
so then I went to a bigger one… and it worked.
those were the 85 page ones. Next comes the 350 page one which if my luck holds true; will be the one to screw me.
I never believe in doing anything half way.
Its hell when we’re talking screw-ups. but its great for other things ….
Don’t let that one slip past you Ladies. This is important information to know.
