InactiveI was not able to set up an account at HSBC. The girl told me that I needed to be living in the UK to set one up. I believe several people were able to set up accounts, though.

MemberI was told that UK banking was strict and that non residents could not set up accounts. Is this true or not?

Inactivewell I know you cannot get into the gpwa private threads Lou but he was able to do this when he was in the UK. You should ask him what all he provided to open that account I know he said he had to prove he was a corporation with a certifcate of incorp and I know his wife had to be there and sign as well if she was going to be doing anything with the banking. He needed docs such as a passport and a bill with his name on it and he needed an letter from a lawyer stating his true and legal intent to act as a business in the UK etc. Then he needed others on the board to send permission for him to open an account there.
I do not personally want to go inc, I am not liking that but seems if I may have to if I want a UK account, a personal account is just not going to happen over there it seems.

InactiveI used to own a company that had a Canadian director who could draw funds. The criteria was (this is about 6 years ago) that it had to be a UK “Limited” company (about £80 to set up) and that one director had to be UK resident.
I met a chap by coincidence at ICE who is MD of http://www.sovereigngroup.com out of Gibraltar. They specialise in setting up offshore accounts. The guys name was Ian Le Breton and I think they do work for 32Red and also set up for Webzcas. May be worth investigating.

I haven’t decided if I will go offshore or not — still weighing the pros and cons. If I’m still having trouble getting paid in a few weeks, I may take the offshore route.February 6, 2007 at 4:21 am #726143Anonymous
