Jon Kyl, the powerful Republican Senator who is one of the UIGEA’s most vocal supporters, has dropped his block of Obama’s Treasury Department nominations. Kyl had reportedly been blocking the nominations because of his unhappiness that implementation of the UIGEA had been delayed until June. Read the story here.
IMO, the purging of Congress has to begin with this guy, and not just because of his major endorsement of the UIGEA. If you have ever heard him talk about any issue, you’d understand my sentiment entirely. With Congress being chided these days for being partisan decision-makers only, he is one, IMO, that stands out in the crowd in that regard.
