In yet another example of the online betting double standard in the U.S., the Philadephia Inquirer has announced that it will offer online betting services via fantasy sports games — the first U.S. newspaper to do so. Read about it here.
You have to remember, Fantasy Sports sanctioned by the NFL has a carved-out exemption under the UIGEA. This doesn’t surprise me totally, although a newspaper is backing it, not a major sports league. This should be interesting to see how it all plays out.
