InactiveI registered a domain to promote Gold Nugget Casino from CasinoBlaster. Today I received an email from Mirage’s Lawyer saying that I have trademark infringement with Mirage’s casino Golden Nugget Casino trademark and threaten to sue me. What should I do?
I am from Australia, should I just ignore them? Please advise.
Thank you very much.

MemberMy two cents…
Tell them you secured the domain with the intention of marketing Gold Nugget Casino and did not forsee a conflict. Since you have already invested time and development monies you cannot relinquish ownership without reasonable compensation. I would ask them for an amount between $5k – $10K to transfer the domain to them and avoid costly litigation fees for BOTH sides.
If you present it like that they may agree to a Nuisance settlement to avoid court costs. If they dont and want to play rough you could be in for a rough ride that would require you to retain an attorney. If it comes to that let us know as several members work with US based attorneys who specialize in internet law and Intellectual property.
The Mirage people have billions of dollars in assets and an army of attorneys, being in Australia will not help or protect you, so ignoring them is probably the WORST thing you could do.
Good Luck

InactiveIt’s interesting that they haven’t sued CasinoBlasters or maybe
they have … it is very much bordering on TradeMark infrigement
same industry … almost same name.Gold Nugget Casino
Golden Nugget CasinoEasy to prove confusion there
hummm .
.. maybe that’s why casinoblasters points
to xhttp://www.24ktgoldcasino.com/welcome.phpfor this domain

InactiveThanks Professor for your advise. I have responsed to the laywer and wait to see what happen next.
It mentions on the website Gold Nugget Online Casino® with registered sign so I believe they have the trademark right.
Hope this issue won’t turn into a costly legal action. I would rather surrender the domain at worst and I don’t have much money.

InactiveHave you asked Casino Blasters about this ????
I have put the words Golden Nugget up on a few sites linking to casinoblasters and I noticed the real name of the casinos domain is 24kgold casino … Not sure if that has any bearing but they seem to be the root of this problem you have incurred …
