Why do some places look at gambling to be illegal?

If someone wanted to throw away a TV….or take some money and give it to someone else no one says that is illegal…but something as fun as playing games for cash is?

Yet, players are getting paid for playing sports all the time!!

Why don’t they make fishing illegal…it hurts the world more than gambling!

I think they have to face the fact that the public is really really starting to like gambling, especially poker and that people want to see it more and more….it truly is becoming a sport!

wow you love us asking the tough questions!

personally i love to play a bit of home poker or blackjack at the casinos, everything in moderation, but as to why its illegal is a question out of my league.

I think it is a political question.
They make it illegal because they cannot make profit from it, because the casinos are operating like a company.
Most countries have sport betting games run by the state and they dont want to let the goose with the golden eggs go.
I think if they let operate these companies they could make more money by the taxes and other fees. Not like this way.
Alcolhol prohibition in the 20th century was good for what?? Smuggling grew and people drank more because it was banned..

    Ridiculous…

Some religious sects look at a number of fun things most of us take for granted as “immoral”. These include dancing, gambling and drinking alcohol. When these people are away from their home environment, a lot of them feel free to indulge in these things they call vices when around their neighbors. A lot of hypocrisy involved here………. :sarcasm:

Of course it’s not the question that’s stupid – but the hypocrisy in the answer.

It’s down to two things …
    – Money (government and vested interests in LEGAL gambling)
    – Religious based moral judgements (and don’t get me started on that)
    :baaa:

Of course 85% of the planet doesn’t consider online gambling illegal.
Ever considered a move to a less restrictive country?
