Hi Inspiration,
I didn’t know the .com was going to be renewed. The way I read the email they sent on the 7th, I thought they were making a permanent change to the .eu url.
Quote:Dear Affiliatehttp://www.StarPartner.com changes domain to .eu
Star Partner would like to inform you that due to domain issues http://www.StarPartner.com we will be changing its domain to http://www.StarPartner.eu
This change will not alter anything other than the domain name. You will still be able to make use of everything prior to the change – Banners, Reviews and Reports will be unaffected.
If you wish to contact us, you can do so by emailing us on the following addresses:
Affiliate Manager: [email protected]
Support: [email protected]
Webmaster: [email protected]
Bookmark the new address in your browser, use your old login details and log into http://www.StarPartner.eu right away.

Conrad
Affiliate ManagerApril 20, 2009 at 7:12 am #798728playlivebingoMemberHi Guys,I’m sorry for not having done this sooner but I wanted to make sure that I had all the facts
about what happened and why before I posted about our .com domain. We registered StarPartner.com with Verio and at the time we gave them our email addresses
and credit card details, everything that was needed to notify us when it came to renew the
domain as well as the instruction to execute an auto renew at the time of expiration. This however never happened, the first we heard about the domain going down was during
the weekend when Daera and a various other affiliates contacted me to let me know about it.I immediately got on the phone with the relevant people to sort it out.We were later told quite blatantly by Verio that they do not guarantee delivery of expiration
notifications or automatic renewals and they only provide these as an additional courtesy
service which they aren’t required to fulfil. They also informed us me they don’t guarantee
that they will keep expiring domains either and this led to our domain being registered by a
3rd party. We were unable to buy our domain back from the “squatters” as quickly as we
would have liked so we put up the .eu domain for the time being. We have completed negotiations with the current domain “owners” and are in the process of
completing the transfer of the domain and this should be done in the next day or two.April 20, 2009 at 7:22 am #798730playlivebingoMemberwebsparks;202353 wrote:Started with StarPartner a few months ago and have earned each month. However have still to see a payment?Emails to conrad go unanswered.

April 21, 2009 at 8:16 am #798815tonywangMemberYes Verio is a terrible registrar (actually they don’t handle the actual domain registrations, it’s done through Melbourne IT who are a really terrible registrar), but relying on automatic renewal and notices is also a very bad policy. I recommend renewing all domains well in advance, for example I review my domain list every January 1 and July 1, then you won’t ever have to worry about this happening.
Anyway, I really don’t understand why you would have to pay the domain pirates anything, this type of thing used to happen in the past but it doesn’t happen any more because virtually every registrar has policies in place to prevent re-registration within a certain time-frame after expiration. For example here is Verio’s page regarding their policy :
http://www.verio.com/support/documents/view_article.cfm?doc_id=3675
It seems to me that you shouldn’t have had to pay anybody that re-registered the domain after expiration, it shouldn’t even have been possible according to Verio’s “Redemption Period” policy. Time to bring out the lawyers!

I hear you about the renewals, we have changed our domain renewal policy after
this fiasco. Ultimately if Verio failed to execute the auto renewal, then by rights
they should have given us a grace period in which we could have taken care of
the renewal but they never did.I was chatting Daera yesterday who was kind enough to give Verio an anonymous call
and asked about their redemption and renewals policy and the guy’s answer was so
vague it bordered on laughable. My IT guys are still waiting for a straight answer
from them but we doubt that we will ever get a straight answer about what happened. It is so easy for them not to take responsibility for what happened, let alone for
them not giving us the chance to renew after the auto renew fell through.April 22, 2009 at 4:34 am #798871AnonymousInactiveHi Jam,
That’s excellent information you dug up about Verio’s Redemption Status policy. I didn’t see that when I looked. Maybe I didn’t search hard enough. As Conrad said, I did contact Verio support by telephone and asked about the Redemption policy. They told me that it is possible to retrieve a domain after it’s expired, but only if it hasn’t been bought up by someone already. Basically, they said that they didn’t have this Redemption Status option available if someone did buy up the domain. That seemed pretty rogue to me.
Just like with any business, I guess it’s possible that the person I spoke to on the telephone was uninformed and gave me the wrong information. I hope.

Conrad,
I recommend that you pay domain registrations for 10 years at a time. At least for any *important* domains. Domain renewals are extremely cheap. So why would any online casino or affiliate program not just pay $100 for the important domains, and be safe for 10 years? $100 is nothing. It also shows players and affiliates that you plan on being around for awhile. I never understood why any casino would register their domain for only 1 or 2 years at a time, but I do see it more often then you’d think.
I’m really sorry you’re going through this Conrad. I had the same thing happen to me not too long ago. But in my case I did have the option to get my domain back through the redemption process. I found out a couple of days ago that the redemption status is not always available an registrars are not obligated to offer that grace period. Any registrar that doesn’t offer this, is like a casino that doesn’t offer to flush cashouts IMO. And shouldn’t be used.
I also agree that I wouldn’t pay pirates a penny. It’s like negotiating with terrorists.
Good luck Conrad..
