Former Sportingbet Plc Chairman Peter Dicks, facing extradition to Louisiana on illegal gambling charges, was set free today by New York authorities after having been arrested earlier this month. Sportingbet shares surged.
“The governor has decided not to issue a warrant,” Dicks lawyer Barry Slotnick said in an interview today, referring to New York Governor George Pataki, whose cooperation was needed to send the executive to Louisiana to face the charges.
Good news – Nice to see there are still some good people with their head screwed on properly in the states.

“allowing things that should not be banned” and “banning things that should not be allowed” – as an example, he mentioned stem cell research. he forgot to mention that other thing that USA bans that should be allowed – Internet gambling.

No the Brits are NOT way cool – in fact they’re still slightly xenophobic …
But – due to their location on the edge of Europe, and the remants of the British Empire – the UK has no option but to slowly become exposed for foreign ideas and adapt to the best of them.
The United States on the other hand is almost totally isolated from the rest of the world, and this is reflected in the public thinking in all walks of life.
If you want to see WAY COOL, then look at Holland, Belgium, and a myriad of smaller countries that truely take the best ideas from all walks of life – without a myopic fear that foreign ideas must be corrupt.
Now that’s WAY COOL !!
