September 21, 2010 at 2:02 pm #812325AnonymousInactiveAlthough their US sportsbook used to be Sportsbook.com which they sold back in 06 for something like $2 but still this is big as sports is by far their biggest market
September 21, 2010 at 3:22 pm #812330CharlesWFMemberLooks like a sensible move! And the shares rose over 10% so others think so too.
I’ve been impressed with sportingbet over the last year or so. They have gone from a site which i regularly thought about removing from our listings to one which im keen to work with more. The product keeps on improving and players becoming more profitable.
Still a way to go to compete with a few of the others, but making more progress than most.
So i would recommend them to any sports betting affiliate now, and we will be adding them to our ValueChecker affiliates program shortly.
September 21, 2010 at 5:01 pm #812333AnonymousInactivePersonally, I have not forgiven them for stealing everyone’s players some years ago… They even sent out mails to playes that were under people’s tags asking them to move to another of their sportsbooks with an incentive… no tagging over… plain theft IMO.
September 21, 2010 at 5:45 pm #812336AnonymousInactiveWith UIGEA not very popular or enforceable, the DOJ probably aimed to get as much money as possible from this. This is probably a drop in the bucket for Sportingbook, and it basically exhonerates them. And like the poster above said, the gain in shares easily outpaced the cost of the fine, so it was a wise move for them.

a bold question – trouble times for (ex)US based affiliate partners… ?
September 28, 2010 at 5:22 pm #812476AnonymousInactiveFar as I know there is no law about advertising….
Any and all arrests and prosecutions have been in the sportsbetting field, and only people who actually took bets from US citizens over the phone.
