I am deeply saddened, I will no longer be an active participate on CAP. My unselfish acts behind the scenes have taken their toll. It is time for me to look after my own interests and move on. All link exchanges will be honoured. I have gained some valuable wisdom through CAP something money cannot afford.
I will however remain in the industry, and always be an advocate against dirty webmasters and programs. Perhaps these two quotes say it best;
Every young man would do well to remember that all successful business stands on the foundation of morality.
-Henry Ward BeecherFew men have virtue to withstand the highest bidder.
–George WashingtonFor me my mind was never for rent. The CAC was not considered to be an opportunity for me but rather another one of my unselfish acts. I like to be remembered as the fellow who tried to help but failed.
If this sounds unmanly of me so be it, but I love each and everyone one of you. I am deeply sorry.
Signing off
Love
Greek39/P.S post public if you like. In parting 21.com which belongs to MissM on Cap is taking part in the latest bowling campaign.
Dominique your site is included as well has been scraped.
August 25, 2006 at 2:07 am #703436AnonymousInactiveI am confused? What could make you want to leave CAP? It is a great community with forgiving people. Shake off your funk… If you wish to just work on marketing your sites, then do that and pursue BHers no longer – we would all still respect you just as much.
August 25, 2006 at 2:30 am #703437AnonymousInactiveso what’s the gossip here then?
:notify:August 25, 2006 at 2:42 am #703438AnonymousInactiveGreek,
Whatever you decide to do, you’ll always have my friendship and respect. I hope to see you around here once in a while, and I hope we’ll see each other again in person someday — perhaps at the next CAP spring break.
August 25, 2006 at 4:19 am #703444AnonymousInactiveim confused too, didn’t see anything build up to this.
often i take breaks from the board, like over a month sometimes… no need to officially “depart” …you just go undercover…

Taking breaks is often a good idea.
Besides, now I need to know what you meant – I am being google bowled and scraped again?
August 25, 2006 at 12:11 pm #703464vladcizsolMemberAs is usually the case with Greek I have no idea what prompted this or whats bothering him now. His posts are generally cryptic and to be honest I dont undertsand what hes getting at 90% of the time. Since he’s a friend and long time CAP member we generally nod our heads and give him his space and allow him time to work out whatever it is he’s sorting out.
This is the third or fourth time we have gone through this (he tells me he is leaving CAP) and as usual he’s pmed me and asked that I lock out his account. Since this is part of the usual routine I will honor that request. I would imagine he will be back in a day or two and we will turn his account back on, with one exception, I am not going to turn back on private forum access until I feel a little more comfortable that he’s mentally stable. Over the past six months he’s gotten a little ragged around the edges and I worry about where he’s headed. Here is what I wrote him and I believe this to be the case with him now. It’s a danger we all face because we spend SO much our lives in front of a computer screen:
Quote:My suggestion as a friend is to take a step or two back, have a couple of drinks, enjoy time with friends, and keep your online efforts in perspective with the other things in your life. Its too easy to sit in front of a computer and Fall INTO cyberspace and IMAGINE its reality. It isnt, its just a communication tool. What IS reality is the family and friends and real life experiences you have along the way between birth and death. Dont let cyberspace rob you of your life. Use the internet to earn a living, yes, but dont let the internet take living out of your life. I can tell that you put SO much stock into whats going on online that it is impacting your life negatively (IE worrying all the time and spending the MAJORITY of your days and nights glued to a computer screen).
Good luck Peter. I am here whenever you need a friend. I will lock you account, but you know how to reach me via email or you can call me on the phone.

This is a problem I ran into also. One day I realized I wasn’t spending much time with my husband anymore, hadn’t played with my dogs in ages, forgot to enjoy the field of daffodils I had planted for spring, and so on. The computer was on from the minute I got up til when I went to bed.
So I turned over a new leaf, and amazingly, less can be more.
I still turn on the computer when I get up, because that is my most creative time and I like to spend it on my business. I do, however, turn it off like clockwork in the late afternoon/early evening and enjoy time away from the computer. I also turn it off for a block of hours during the day at least twice a week and am still increasing the frequency of this.
I find I am more focussed now when I am online and I get more done.
If you find yourself sucked into the screen, put a stop to it. You’ll be happier and so will everyone around you.
In that spirit, enjoy your vacation, Greek.
August 26, 2006 at 8:21 pm #703586AnonymousInactiveVery true Dominique, indeed i have only recently realised how addicted i am to the net and to what i do. Turning your comp off for a few hours daily can only benefit yourself and those around you.
Enjoy your time off Mr Geek
August 27, 2006 at 10:03 am #703614AnonymousInactiveThe Greek made some real informative posts and some cryptic ones as well.
I hate to see any CAP member quit but I suppose people have their reasons. However, quiting and joining again on more than one occasion seems somewhat unstable and the Prof has made a wise decision.
August 31, 2006 at 1:15 pm #704127vladcizsolMemberAs expected Greek wrote me several times last night:
Quote:Lou hook me up, I am well rested and relaxed. Over the last week I have learnt allot of valuable life lessons. My posts I agree were a bit cryptic, but for a reason. I am one my own now, and ready to be an active participate in the forum I dearly love, CAP.greek39
Peter
I am letting him back into public areas for now and will probably let him back in private areas too in a week or so.
August 31, 2006 at 1:18 pm #704128AnonymousInactiveIt’ll be good to see Greek39 back … even if I don’t always understand him.
:tounge2:I’ve gotta admit I think that the two worlds Greek39 and I live in are only tangentially related … but I do enjoy his active participation.
:woo-hoo:August 31, 2006 at 1:31 pm #704131AnonymousInactivewell i certainly have not expected it to happen THAT soon :]
true, there must be at least few different worlds Geek lives in ;P
August 31, 2006 at 2:10 pm #704132vladcizsolMemberNope he was right on time. Generally these self imposed sabaticals last about 48 hours, then “the voices” tell him its time to come home… :3eyes:
