First – if you are not disallowing any pages is there any need for a robots.txt file? Also, if the hosting company has it set up with a public_html folder does the robots.txt file go in that file or the root directory?
2. I ran across a site, call it mysite.com. Within the body of the text they have Online Casino as anchor text for the home page, but instead of simply linking it to index.html they link it to xhttp://www.mysite.com. Will this work? Is google this dumb that you can put anchor tags all over your own site linking it with anchor text you are optimizing for?

I place the robots.txt in the public_html folder.
As far as the anchor text, I never link back to my home page as “index.html” I always go with the full url. (read it somewhere?)

Then I anchor my keyword which is also linked to the full url.
I don’t know for a fact it works with SEO or not, but I’m sure it doesn’t hurt.
I noticed once a sportsbook had anchored about 10 sport betting phrases at the bottom of every page which just led to the main url. They happened to be number 1 in Google. Whether or not that helped who knows?
