I am trying to do this site by myself from the ground up, plz some comments
December 2, 2005 at 12:32 am #677707AnonymousInactiveSomething is wrong with the format. I’m guessing you are using divs (didn’t look) because the text was floating right and some of the graphic borders were not in the right place.

It’s ugly. And it’s hard to put a finger on why .. but I’ll try.
Somehow this is sooooo .. blah.I think it’s because the frontpage seems to have no structure, there are a myriad of font styles and sizes … and the adverts seem to be randomly pasted about in the main body of the page.
(although I did like the “chip rack” button)
:rolleyes:But when I got to your site I wondered where shall I go next? There’s no direction or incentive to click on anything. What do you want your visitors to do?
I also note that when I click to read an article that I go to a completely different layout, (with green borders) I thought that I’d left your site … but on checking the URLs I found it was the same site. and the only way to return was to hit the BACK button … you had no homepage link.
to me .. the front page looks like another affiliate banner farm, with adverts pasted in random places. Remember graphics don’t really work well for anyone except newbies. We’ve all seen the buttons. It’s unlikely to make people say “oh wow a special offer – let me join now” ….
If it was a random visit then I’d have stayed about 5 seconds.

My honest assessment ?
The sites lack of style detracts so much that I wouldn’t stay to check out the content.
December 2, 2005 at 3:22 am #677716AnonymousInactiveopps .. .that sounds too negative..
(sorry)I did like the green boardered article …
The layout was good and the text interesting.
:angel:December 2, 2005 at 12:05 pm #677729AnonymousInactiveI thought the colors were nice.
Perhaps you need to test it with both browsers? I use Firefox as my main browser and based on my sites statistics so is about 40% of my visitors and things are not displayed right in it.
At least one of the links at the top didn’t work and I’m not sure about the scrolling marque …But I think concept is nice just need more structure and testing.
Good luck
December 14, 2005 at 2:19 am #678524AnonymousInactiveStop using tables for layouts.
bad bad bad
Overall look is great. I’d suggest trying to create a focus point of your website, though. Currently, my eyes don’t know where to look first — what’s the site about? I have to read the links on your home page to understand what your website is about. Something like a small introductory paragraph would work nicely for that.

Hi PPokyh,
I’ve just revisited your site after reading the latest comments .. and I agree.
That’s a much tastier looking site .. very tastefully done … although I miss the chip-rack button …
:hehe:The idea of the “HOT Sections / Bonuses / Reviews” is a good one … as is the consistant font.
:clapper:One weird thing though … many of the links in the main section (down the left hand side) all link straight back to the front page again … is that because you have no content for them yet? if so – you’re best to leave the whole link out – something like that simply puts people off.
OF course they could simply be an obvious ploy to attract Search Engine points for links to key words … but I’m not sure it works when you direct back to yourself … probably just earn a penalty.
Otherwise it’s looking a lot better !! Well done.
:clapper:December 14, 2005 at 4:29 am #678534AnonymousInactiveOH … I see … the penny drops.
