KW thats not at all far fetched.
March 7, 2006 at 4:48 pm #685582AnonymousInactiveI agree… Just put in the naive part because I know that many would think that
I did forget the part about us losing our income stream, though, because the casinos could advertise on television at that point.
I hope it does not come to that, but as you said – there are a lot of right-wingers gunning for gambling right now. It is the hot topic of the moment to them and whomever jumps on it first and lands hardest gets the credit. You can be your ass every politician wants a piece of that action.
March 7, 2006 at 5:44 pm #685586AnonymousInactiveWell, this is the one and only point on which I habitually disagree with the professor.
I still don’t think it will pass, even though I, too, think it is definitely more likely this year than in previous ones.
There are simply too many people gambling online, and this year the Indian groups, who usualy support these bills, are opposed. The Indian groups have great clout, and Goodlatte assumed they would be on his side..
Contrary to the scenario painted here, the Indian groups have decided that they want to compete online as is, rather than wait around for this legal-illegal-legal nonsense to happen.
Yes, Abrahms is a slap in the face (especially since he was ours too) but the Indian development is great for us.
I agree on the right wing having become a great liability to the basic freedoms in this country though, and that is why I am closer to agreeing with the professor this time than ever before. The political climate is dangerous these days.

To have some fun and be a bit ironic, why don’t the Professor and Dom bet on the outcome of the legislation??!!! LOL!
If Dom wins, Professor happily buys her a beer…
And if Professor wins, he’ll never see a cent ’cause it’ll be illegal then!
MWAHAHAHAHA!

Wade. We have different views on these subjects than the Democrats, for sure, but I want to make certain you guys recognize the distinct difference.
Kinda like me associating all “liberals” with chaining themselves to trees, tye dye shirts, and VW Vans… LOL!
March 7, 2006 at 6:23 pm #685590vladcizsolMemberI will happily buy Dom all the beer she cares to drink in Miami no matter what happens, same goes for you J Todd.

I am really looking forward to Mami, too! :highflyer
The best revenge is always still living well!
