I’m sure Commission Junction is straight-up.
Their tracking was pretty close to real time – and I was able to see all my test clicks appearing accurately. Their back-end systems, reporting, and creative construction pages were first class though – and from that regard they were definately best-of-breed.
I think the issue for me was that I was taking onboard the gambling sites there – and they were all CPA deals – and given that I have a large Asian / European gambling visitor base it just was not working as well as direct relationships.
It’s about results – and their monthly cheques tended to be cut in the low $100’s where as I can earn significantly more by working directly with the bookmakers or partners.
:plain:The otherdown side was the complete seperation between yourself and the product seller – CJ were stuck in the middle. As part of OUR sites promotion is that I will step up and sort out any hassles that a player has with a gamblnig site — this made it much much harder to do.
:dozing:
If you’re getting out of that game – and selling a product were you don’t need to maintain a relationship with your visitor – effectively simply using your site as a billboard – then I’m sure CJ will do as well as ANY of these sites – and probably with better systems.
:Nod:October 22, 2006 at 1:25 pm #712945AnonymousInactiveYeah I think CJ has some pretty nice feats. EPC is nice even though I believe that it is greatly distorted by PPC ads as EPC from 85% targeted traffic will be significantly higher than that from average traffic.
But you´re right, I could see straight away that their site is useless for betting/casino. Very low CPA deals around $30  Almost as bad as Lasseters:wink-winkOctober 23, 2006 at 1:48 pm #713060baraucsMemberHi. Back from the weekend, thought I’d address some questions…
Dominique wrote:What’s EPC? Per click?TheGooner wrote:If it’s like Commission Junction then EPC actually means…EPC = The average earnings per click on the network for a given campaign. It’s not a guaranteed amount you will earn, but simply a took for you to know how well the campaign is doing for other publishers. Unlike CJ who for some reason multiplies their EPC by 100, ours is a real per-click number. For example, if you log into the network as an affiliate, you’ll see the Mobile Sidewalk merchant paying $13.90 per lead with an EPC of $1.10. That means on average, affiliates are earning $1.10 per click for their traffic.
slotplayer wrote:Whom are some of your merchants? Some you might recognize (Bargain.com, Tickle.com, MobileSidewalk.com) and others you might not (TheUseful.com, True.com, lots of survey companies). There are many, so the best way to know the merchants is to either just sign up as an affiliate and check out the listings, or get a preview here – http://www.maxbounty.com/showoffers.cfm
TheGooner wrote:I’m sure Commission Junction is straight-up.I’m sure they are too. Whenever a problem is reported about CJ on the message boards, it’s usually just a single merchant in question who had a problem and not CJ as a whole. That said, CJ and MaxBounty.com are networks with a mostly different client base. We do have some campaigns in common (with actually better rates on MB) but the general rule is that CJ promotes mostly programs which pay a percentage of a sale, while MaxBounty.com mostly promotes merchants which pay a flat rate per sale or flat rate per lead.
Also just wanted to add another note about incentive traffic…. we work with many big incentive publishers, it’s a model that works quite well on MaxBounty since we have so many campaigns with a high affiliate payout and low-or-no surfer cost. (Case in point – Bargain.com paying $28.00 with a $1 cost to surfers.) We have real time sub-ID reporting for those incentive affiliates who require it.
This thread seems to be coming to an end so I just wanted to thank everyone for their interest in reading about us. I’m free if anyone has any further questions, here or privately. For those of you making the jump from casino to mainstream advertising, best of luck in your future promotions.
Thanks

Does MaxBounty payout earnings per each campaign? Or are all campaigns bundled?
When do you pay out?
This one sounds strange but saw it at another program:
Does the affiliate get paid if “Your” merchant delays or don’t pay you?
Thanks for answering in advanced, I’m going to go ahead and try some of your programs while I wait your answers.
Thank You

that’s what I worry about with mainstream. what little I’ve done in terms of checking out forums etc … I’d see posts from webmasters actually bragging they’d earned like $400 on a month at whatever it was they were selling.
… ouch! and these were as I understood it, some of the more (considered) successful players in the field.
Now I realize there are apt to be some super-aff types who might make considerably more than that … but it worries me that someone like myself whom I’d consider a person who’s not big in the biz but has been able to etch out a niche in the niche if you will … that if I were to achieve the same in mainstream ….. well I’d be hungry before the year was out.
all that said.. i’ve little choice but to begin looking in the mainstream direction but so far its been very discouraging.
October 24, 2006 at 1:03 am #713141AnonymousInactivebb1webs long time no see buddy … hope all is better
with you and all … yeah I hear yah about the mainstream
thing … but let me say that the internet opportunities are
definitely there to be had … I am personally having a
fantastic month overall … like the professor said with
mainstream you have NO advertising restrictions so in a
sense it is better than playing with the gambling game.

@ bb1 It´s even worse when you consider that some of these people will have spent $350 on adwords.
October 24, 2006 at 11:40 pm #713299baraucsMemberHi all.
Yes, what you get is a total check (or eletronic funds transfer) for your earnings across all merchants. We pay out once per month on a Net 15 basis, meaning January earnings are paid out mid Feb for example.
Do you get paid if the merchant doesn’t pay us. Technically, you do not, but this has not happened a single time in the 3 years the network has been around. Note that at least half our merchants work on a pre-paid basis, and those that don’t prepay are long term clients who have a vested interest in getting more traffic/leads from affiliates…. so they’re not about to skip out!
November 2, 2006 at 10:40 pm #714366AnonymousInactiveHi,
Do you guys ever answer emails?
November 3, 2006 at 1:48 pm #714443baraucsMemberUhm… yes of course.
November 3, 2006 at 3:42 pm #714463AnonymousInactiveI’ve mailed you guys a couple times and have received no answers, so I’ll ask here.
How long does it take for Merchants to approve? I’ve been waiting on one for a bit now?
November 3, 2006 at 3:49 pm #714464baraucsMemberMerchant approval is usually very quick, one business day… unless information is missing about the program you wish to advertise. We only let in merchants which we feel have a chance of seeing real results on the network. If a merchant applies and describes their campaign as “Just want more info” or “I run a bunch of websites”, it’s not enough info for us to approve or reject right away and an account manager tries to reach the merchant for more info. After a few failed attempts at contacting the potential merchant, we reject the application.
Do know that you when you sign up as either a merchant or an affiliate, you must confirm your email address. Some people skip this validation or a spam filter kills the confirmation email… in such case the account is never created. Did you confirm?
If you’ve been email me personally, I have no spam filters in place so I should be getting your email… but I haven’t heard from anyone on this board in a few days so you might want to make sure you’re hitting the right address. It’s jp AT maxbounty DOT com.
November 3, 2006 at 3:55 pm #714465AnonymousInactiveHi,
I’ve used these emails:
jessicad at maxbounty.com
&
affiliates at maxbounty.com
The question above was in regards to how long it takes a “Merchant” to approve “Us” affiliates to run their campaign?
My user email at MaxBounty is “admin at dalster.com”
I’m trying to get hooked up with GoTrusted,Inc since I also run a proxy I thought it would be a perfect fit.
Thanks
November 3, 2006 at 4:00 pm #714466baraucsMemberOh, that’s a different question. When a merchant runs their own program using our interface, they get to decide on who they want to approve into their program… and unfortunately some merchants are more slack than others.
Your emails weren’t to me, but should have been replied to, so I’ll certainly look into it…. and hopefully get this merchant to review you ASAP.
