Im building my first site and i am wonderring if i schould you the .html or .php extension. Does searchengiens prefer .html ?

I would prefer using the .php extension so i can include my navigation menu on all webpages, with the php include statement, but if it hurt in getting indexed by searchengiens maybe i schold skip it. what are your experience?
    .html or .php best?

PHP works just as well as HTML.

It is not going to matter, however you can use .html extension and use php include within that.

You just have to do an AddType in your .htaccess file (if you are hosted on a Linux/Unix host)

yeah, you can use anyone, if you use HTML and in this case you have to add handler in .htacess file.

If you use PHP, its easy to do that without handler.

But both has the same value. One more thing that i use my directory links like

    http://www.mysite.com/directory/

i never link to like http://www.mysite.com/directory/index.html OR http://www.mysite.com/directory/index.php

Using http://www.mysite.com/directory/ has advantage that i can anytime change extensions and page rank will not effect.

No difference on the search engines, they like all web extensions .htm, .html, .php, .asp, .aspx. The only time you hear of issues is with dynamically built pages where a “?” needs to be used. However, our site uses these on about every page without any issues.
