July 28, 2007 at 10:40 am #743939AnonymousInactiveAbout Time. Kinda funny that responsible adults cant gamble online, but kids with “Second Lifes” can. Ridiculas!
Actually,
This may aide in the process of repealing the UGIEA. This is just one more excuse of “Juvy” abuse in online gambling. I dont know for a fact, but im 100% sure SL didnt have nearly the safeguards is Online Casinos do.

Also, while there are minors in Second Life, it’s not a childrens world, users 13-17 are segregated from the adult world
.2 You must be 13 years of age or older to access Second Life; minors over the age of 13 are only permitted in a separate area, which adults are generally prohibited from using. Linden Lab cannot absolutely control whether minors or adults gain unauthorized access to the Service.
You must be at least 13 years of age to participate in the Service. Users under the age of 18 are prohibited from accessing the Service other than in the area designated by Linden Lab for use by users from 13 through 17 years of age (the “Teen Area”). Users age 18 and older are prohibited from accessing the Teen Area. Any user age 18 and older who gains unauthorized access to the Teen Area is in breach of this Agreement and may face immediate termination of any or all Accounts held by such user for any area of the Service. If you reside in a jurisdiction where the age of majority is greater than 18 years old, you are prohibited from accessing the Service until you have reached such age of majority.
As we have seen, many businesses just don’t want to have the hassles that come to those associated with online gambling. A year ago, i was happy with all the good stuff i had on my resume. Today, i’m building a new resume.

SL had no safegards what so ever, basically anyone could open a casino on either there own sim or a shared sim and run rigged software and no one would have a clue, there were casinos everywhere on sl many people invested thousands to get them up and running.

How could the “casino owners” in SL make money? Wasn’t it all virtual?
Also, I agree with them taking it down. Online casinos have been getting a lot of attention lately, and the entire gambling industry is highly scrutinized. That’s why I think we should be as responsible as possible.
