I received a spam from one of the recent big spammers – optinpostal.com aka lucky winners casino aka ruleblackjack aka lots of other names – who MIGHT even be an affiliate in here.
Because this was the third instance of repeated spam that has been called to Referback’s attention, I have asked Referback to terminate the account according to their own terms and conditions.
If they do not terminate the account, it will prove that Referback has no intention of living up to their own policies. Which means you should do one of two things:
1. Get rid of them on your sites, or
2. Spam every possible person you can find with Referback stuff since you will not be terminated. And if optinpostal is a member in here, do NOT say you were not warned.

Just curious however, didnt the USA legislate some anti-spam measures? It seems to have done little to my inbox at this point.
February 10, 2004 at 12:53 pm #644589vladcizsolMemberThis is nothing new and unless the affiliate in question is disposable (meaning they dont earn even a token amount of money for Referback) nothing will be done.
February 10, 2004 at 1:25 pm #644591AnonymousInactiveSo, if a Referback aff makes money for them, regardless of the means, it’s all good with them???
This does not rest well with me, time to pull them.
February 10, 2004 at 2:01 pm #644597vladcizsolMemberThats always been the case in the past (within reason) I know people went round and round with Referback in the past when a few prominent webmasters were conducting MAJOR spam campaigns and nothing came of it.
The affiliates are still there and still earning HUGE commissions.
February 10, 2004 at 2:08 pm #644599AnonymousInactiveYou have alot more experience with them than I do. I’m not Mother Theresa, but I do have some moral integrity and I have a hard time with promoting programs that ignore things like this.
I dropped out of this industry in 06/2003 and am getting back in, I was hoping that integrity mattered more now…
February 10, 2004 at 2:49 pm #644604vladcizsolMemberIntegrity does matter. Unfortunately, it cant always be imposed on programs when they arent interested in accepting it.
Yes, Spam is a serious issue and yes its something the casinos should tackle head on. And no, its not something they do with regularity if the persons doing the spamming are big money earners.
But, as with all things we do in business, balance is a key in deciding which casinos we promote and which we do not. There is no utopia and no unblemished program.
All things considered Referback is one of the more straight forward programs out there. Yes, they have lower conversions then we would like to see and were over exposed last year, but they are NOT rogues or absolute thieves like so many others that are online.
They are far better then Casino Profit Shave or Fallen Star Network in terms of performance. They dont bid against us at PPCs and hit all our portals with Scumware like Fortune Lounge. They arent constantly in the spotlight for ripping off players or slow paying like some of the RTGs.
They dont sell player data and launch Joe Job email attacks like some independents we both know.
So in balance I feel ok about keeping them around even though they arent the best SPAM police.
Its something to think about, but if you choose not to promote them I wouldnt fault your logic at all.
February 10, 2004 at 3:00 pm #644605AnonymousInactiveAs always, you have the voice of reason and make sense of contraversial issues.
You are right, they have proven themselves to be one of the more reputable programs despite this one problem.
I guess I’m just pissed about the overall lack of integrity in affilate programs in general. Even if a person changes markets, like cell phones or satellite tv programs, you still see oddities.
Oh well, the money is still good and I don’t have to punch a time clock. Life could be worse.
February 10, 2004 at 6:13 pm #644620AnonymousInactiveThey might get away with The Terminator, but they will not be allowed to get away with this one.
Because if they do not take the appropriate action, EVERYONE starts spamming for them – and they will eventually lose all their business as every ISP will soon auto-filter their mails out.
In other words, if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em – the result at the end will be the same anyhow.
February 10, 2004 at 6:16 pm #644621AnonymousInactivePlus, let’s not even begin to talk about reputable here. They are far from it. This is not only one problem we’re talking about here – we’re talking about a STRING of problems that I have caught them out on from day one – I was one of their first affiliates.
Let’s not even talk about cookies… and spam… and apparent balancing acts… and so on and so on. I don’t have the patience to go down this route again.
February 10, 2004 at 6:31 pm #644623AnonymousInactiveI tend to agree with Spears. I like the referback people, but there seems to be always something going on that keeps me from promoting them.
I remember when they came out with the “no spam” policy.
It was not enforced then. I doubt it will be enforced now.
February 11, 2004 at 5:00 am #644655AnonymousInactiveDont even get me fuckin started on Referback
Chris sakes they can piss me ! Whenever I see there site listed on one of my domains I pull it accept the top 100 casino list then they are at the bottom swimmin wit da fishies hahahaha its a kind ofa fuck u to dem fucks !
February 11, 2004 at 5:24 am #644657AnonymousInactiveYikes! A lot of emotion regarding Referback.
I’m not one to have my cake and eat it to, but I hate to jump on the band wagon without just cause.
Guess I’ll give em bottom positions to fill space and see where that goes
February 11, 2004 at 6:16 am #644658AnonymousInactivemy 2 cents on all this is that if Referback and the other
pioneers would have listened more to our concerns
they would have owned a more dominant share of the market
… look at how they missed out on the poker boom … online
gambling is still in the infancy stage imho and the way to market
domination is simple
” give and it shall be given unto you “
