Maybe someone can help clear something up, because I’m just a little bit confused.
I just got an email from Fortune about the stats, and noticed something right at the bottom of the mail:
“Fortune Affiliates: 1934 Driftwood Bay Belize City Belize”
Big deal, except it rung a bell… I’ve seen that address somewhere before. Check out http://www.referback.com/referback-affiliate-support.asp and see what their address is. It’s exactly the same!
Further to this, I googled the address and a whole bunch of strange results came up. Check these out:
http://www.belizetimes.bz/news/story/971.shtml
http://www.osfi-bsif.gc.ca/app/DocRepository/1/eng/consumer/notices/warning30_e.pdf
http://www.offshoreinfo.com/So, either 1934 Driftwood Bay is a huge building with one mailbox, or something is a little fishy.
Firstly, are Fortune and Referback one and the same? Is this not some weird conflict of interest or something?
And secondly, what’s the deal with all the shady goings on in Belize? Should this affect the way I perceive Referback and Fortune?

Since referback and fortune affiliates operate in south africa (which has a small tax), there exists the possibility that they both used the same attorney to set them up with corporations set up in belize.
I do agree both of them using the same info is suspicious.
September 8, 2005 at 11:32 am #672584AnonymousInactiveHi all,
“ReferBack makes use of a business secretarial service based in Belize. This service provider offers its services to a number of companies which is why you may find several companies listing their postal address as :1934 Driftwood Bay Belize City Belize.”
Cheers,
WayneSeptember 9, 2005 at 7:37 am #672633AnonymousInactiveThanks for responding, Wayne. I understand your response, although it still doesn’t address the Referback-Fortune issue. Or is this pure coincedence?
March 20, 2006 at 3:24 pm #686684AnonymousInactiveRefer-Back and fortune are under the same parent company, but are still very much competitors. This is more common than most would think and is getting to be more and more common as larger companies begin to buy up their competitors.
In this particular case, both companies have seperat marketing and affiliate companies and compete directly with each other. Which is step further than most corporations go, usually hireing the same marketing and advertising companies for multiple accounts and expecting the individual teams to compete. Here they are atleast using seperate companies to run those operations.
It’s a good deal.
By the way, I don’t work for either company, so i have nothing to gain by pointing this out.
