They act as a good first line firewall too if configured correctly
January 11, 2006 at 6:24 pm #680448vladcizsolMemberHow do you work on a network without a router?
January 11, 2006 at 6:28 pm #680449AnonymousInactiveTo be honest professor I truly don’t know. But I do know malicious hackers exploit routers all the time. In fact I know very little about routers. greek39
January 11, 2006 at 6:51 pm #680451AnonymousInactiveRouters are necessary.
Routers do get hacked, but that is not really all that prevalent. Mostly it is ports being left open within the router that gets exploited.
January 12, 2006 at 8:14 am #680522AnonymousInactiveI’m one of the people that always sets my preference to hidden. I do this to avoid being PM spammed. If people see you on the board then they are more likely to spam you because they know you are sitting in front of the screen. There’s no underhanded reason why I do it and I happily put a site or two in my signature so I’m not trying to hide anything. Unfortunately, once again it looks like the losers of this world are ruining it for the good people.
Dave, hope your troubles don’t continue.

Maybe I’m not good enough to be PM spammed. :xmas:January 12, 2006 at 2:16 pm #680547AnonymousInactiveI don’t get PM spammed either. I doubt that happens on this forum, but like Engineer… maybe I’m not worthy.
January 12, 2006 at 2:25 pm #680550vladcizsolMemberI have never had that problem either.
Jarvi if anyone PM spams you let me know and we will take them behind the wood shed.
January 12, 2006 at 3:13 pm #680557AnonymousInactiveI must admit I don’t get PM spammed here or on Meister or on the GPWA. I may get the odd PM regarding a post but that’s about it.
January 12, 2006 at 3:16 pm #680558AnonymousInactiveI get PM spammed frequently, everywhere, but I don’t mind. Mostly I just delete, and occasionally something catches my interest. So I don’t want to stop it from happening to me personally.
January 12, 2006 at 9:24 pm #680631AnonymousInactiveI don’t read my PM’s so spamming is a waste of time.
:satisfiedJanuary 12, 2006 at 10:09 pm #680651AnonymousInactiveNo it hasn’t been a problem here, I was just pointing out a legimate reason why I and others may hide that they are on the board. It’s just one of the first things I set in my preferences when I join a forum.
Professor, if it happens I will be sure to tell you but as most here know, you run a pretty tight ship and it would be useless and career limiting.
January 21, 2006 at 7:40 pm #681506AnonymousInactiveIt continues……… :cuss:
Just got an email from Neteller sending me my password which someone initiated from the Neteller site using the Neteller Forgot Password Facility.
Now I don’t know if I have pissed off a casino, an affiliate or both, but this is now taking things too far. I like to think I am a rational and fair individual, and if publically I have slighted someone or a casino either on my site or on one of the public forums I frequent, then there is probably very good reason.
Sorry, I am ranting a bit again – just feeling that someone is out to mess with my livlihood and I am extremely angry.
January 22, 2006 at 4:12 pm #681542AnonymousInactiveWebzcas rant all you want, thats all I seem to do. Basically You have been pissed on, so you have ranting priviledges.
I agree, there is probably someone messing with your head, your site and everything else.
Don’t be backed into a corner and keep taking the punches. Do not be intimidated by people who just might know more than yourself. Begin to learn the fine art of internet martial arts. If there is no time, hire someone to put these attacks to rest. If I had more time I would do it for you for nothing.
Since the late seventies, minus four years, I have had a computer. Learnt alot in those years. The only people that I would be intimated by would be my friends.
It all depends on your drive, don’t let people mess with you livlihood.

I can’t say PM spam has ever been an issue. I just like to fly below the radar as a general rule. I can be found if anyone asked around, so I’m not really that hidden.
