Just joined and have been reading through the forums for a little while, seems like a pretty good bunch of folks here.
I figure while I’m not getting any traffic it’d be a good time to make any crucial changes now if need be.
I currently have a system in place with each casino I have listed to allow for both a rating and review of the casino. They can only be done together, not either/or. Would it be of any benefit to separate them or to leave it as is and only allow those who leave a review to rate the casino as well?
My original thinking when coding the system was that I’d be sure I was getting a legitimate rating if someone was leaving a review instead of just giving random ability to all visitors to give ratings.
Then again, there may be some people who want to legitimately rate the casino but just don’t care to leave a review.
Or should I just scrap the whole review thing and let people rate at whim.
I do plan to use the ratings throughout the site in the future, but if people don’t review I won’t have any ratings to utilize.
I think I just talked myself into a corner.

If they can’t be bothered to spend thirty seconds, I wouldn’t care about such people’s opinions.
Ratings are too easily spammable. I would never have them, except after a review that met some criteria, like a certain number of words.
It’s a natural human impulse to tell people about something you like. If you have a casino getting 9’s and tens, but no reviews, it will make your ratings look like a joke, just something people with the casinos came and spammed.
