PUNTERS BET ‘GODS PARTICLE’ WILL BE FOUND
Paddy Power today slashed the odds on ‘Gods Particle’ being found to 4/1 after several significant bets were placed on scientists discovering the elusive particle this year.
As scientists flipped the switch on the world’s most powerful particle accelerator – the Large Hadron Collider (LHC) on Wednesday, Irish bookmaker Paddy Power began betting on whether or not the famous Higgs Boson or ‘Gods Particle’ would be found.
Paddy Power were initially offering odds of 6/1 on the particle being discovered, but reined in the odds to 4/1 after several large bets were placed on the experiment being a success, and the particle being found.
According to CERN scientists, if the particle is found, it will almost certainly explain dark matter, dark energy and whether other dimensions parallel to our own exit.
Sharon McHugh, spokesperson for Paddy Power said: “A lot of people never heard of ‘Gods Particle’ before this week but we’ve been taking hundreds of bets in the last day or so, so the experiment certainly has people talking. With all the money they’re spending on it we hope they do find what they’re looking!”
