Professor,
One thing I think would be helpful is if the Private Forum areas looked a little different than the public areas. I generally read posts via the ‘View New Posts’ function, and there only the last portion of the forum title appears.
For example, this forum, the “Private Forums -> General Discussion’ says just ‘General Discussion’, just like the other public area one. To know I’m looking in the Private Forum, I have to notice the title at the top of the page once I get here.
If the colors were different in here, it might eliminate any confusion, and prevent any accidental disclosure of private thread information in public.
Thanks again for a great place to share information, -Ken-

Or one could rename “general discussion” to “private discussion”.
I also use the “new post” function, it is very convenient.
And yes, thanks for the great forum, professor!

March 30, 2004 at 10:57 pm #647140AnonymousInactiveJust renaming it would help – like private discussion instead of general discussion.
December 28, 2005 at 6:46 pm #679380AnonymousInactiveAny chance of this renaming idea getting considered again Prof?
December 28, 2005 at 6:48 pm #679381AnonymousInactiveYes, I also still think this is a problem.
Anyone who uses the “new posts” function never knows they are in the private forum.
This jeopardizes the privacy.
December 28, 2005 at 7:07 pm #679386AnonymousInactiveI agree… I always have to look again in the ‘breadcrumbs’ area to make sure I am posting into a private forum area.
December 28, 2005 at 7:10 pm #679388vladcizsolMemberOk how is it now?
December 28, 2005 at 7:14 pm #679391AnonymousInactiveThanks.

December 28, 2005 at 10:42 pm #679408AnonymousInactiveGreat
Thanks LouDecember 29, 2005 at 12:45 am #679420AnonymousInactiveWhat’s the difference between a “private forum” and a public one then ?
December 29, 2005 at 1:01 am #679423vladcizsolMemberGooner very few members have access here to the private forums. We only extend that courtesy to webmasters we feel comfortable with and who are active contributors to the community.
Lurkers dont have access here, they dont even see these forums when they visit CAP
Casinos and Affiliate Managers dont have access here either. I am sure they have heard this area exists, but we dont grant them access and they cant see these forums when they visit CAP.
The reason we have Private areas is so that we can conduct discussions in a secure enviroment that we wouldnt want to do in the public areas. This allows a lot more candid talk without fear of retribution, or lawsuits, by the programs.
As stated only a select few members at CAP can get in here or see this area and we require that what you view or discuss here be held in the strictest confidence. You may NOT make reference to any conversations or threads here in the private area. What’s said here stays here. Anyone caught violating this trust will have his or her access to the private areas revoked.
December 31, 2005 at 5:36 am #679558AnonymousInactiveMy 2 cent are free. I like it just the way it is. The only thing maybe worth changing would be the color of the title bar giving it a more distinct appearance. But hey don’t matter to me. I was thinking of changing my avtar to Bill Gates?
The greeceball39 Have a great New Year!!!
