Got a Question for all who promote Poker sites . . .
I have numerous casino sites, but never promoted poker until recently.
Didn’t understand the game . . still don’t! :confused:Question:
Is is normal procedure NOT to get paid on tournament play?
I sent a player…player deposited $800…I am making ZILCH from this player!Upon inquiring I was told that the player is very active in tournaments…but, I do not get paid on tournament play??
Excuse Me . . . I sent a player to the casino…player is spending money at the casino…I get absolutely nothing? Does this make sense to anyone?
Please explain!

First of all, let me first say this is a very unique situation that you are describing LasVegasLady and we are very willing to work out a solution for you.
As you know, we have 2 payment plans available at Absolute Poker – CPA and Revenue Share
In your case, you are on a revenue share program, meaning you share in the rake revenue…your player isn’t technically contributing to our revenue stream (the rake) as he is primarily 98% a tourney player. For tournaments we do not rake therefore we technically don’t have the logic to track revenue share for this player. However. he does pay 10% of tournament buy-ins. Say it’s a $10 + $1 tourney. The $10 goes into the prize pool and the $1 is paid to Absolute Poker.
Therefore, if we treated this same as the rake you would get 25% of the $1 and every tournament buy-in fee this player paid. What we propose we do if give you a CPA award for this player. There is still a chance he may play regular games some day and begin to contribute to the rake at some point. Many tourney players evolve like this as they gain confidence and fill time between tournaments.
Let me know what you think…
and as always feel free to contact me with any questions you have about your Absolute Poker account at [email protected]
If you have any questions or need any other information that would help you to promote Absolute Poker we’d be happy to do whatever we can to work together.

According to the thread above, we do get commissions from Party Poker on tournament play.

I see you made it home allright.
The situation isn’t all that unusual – my September stats show the almost identical thing.
October 8, 2004 at 7:05 pm #655849AnonymousInactiveThanks for the response Jennifer,
I didn’t understand how this poker thing works.
After hearing from several of the Poker experts…evidently SOP not to get paid for tournaments. :rasberry:
I appreciate the offer of a CPA award for this player. Thank You !
Absolute Poker is okey-dokey in my book!
I’ll move the link back to the top of the page.

As I mentioned before we aren’t set up to track buy-ins for tourneys at Absolute Poker. I know that this isn’t perfect but until we are able to work something out in the system we are more than happy to compensate on a case by case basis.
Please contact us and we will either pay a discounted CPA or we’ll work out the tourney buy-ins to date of your referred players and pay you the regular commission percentage.
Thanks

Does Ultimate Bet track tournament buy-ins?
October 11, 2004 at 4:54 am #655941AnonymousInactiveHi Randy,
Good question. Let me check this one out with UltimateBet just to be sure. I’ll let you know as soon as I have verified with UB.
btw…enjoyed meeting you in Vegas as well. Hope that you didn’t have much work to do at the house once you got home.
Speak to you soon
JenniferOctober 11, 2004 at 2:39 pm #655965AnonymousGuestI didn’t know about this.
Poker affs, don’t just look a this and shrug.
Its a huge issue as most you know; the big excitement now days is playing the no-limit games; and most folks can’t afford, or like myself; simply won’t play no-limit in anything but tourney style play, because the other can be so damn expensive.
… er, I mean, for those that lose.
anyway, it is a huge thing. we have every right to expect to get paid a commission on all gambling done by players we send.
this is very interesting and don’t count on me letting it go easily.
Poker is tough enough to get to a point to where it’s making decent money in comparison to casinos; and yet the cost of traffic does not know such a gap :
October 11, 2004 at 3:07 pm #655968AnonymousInactiveI have to say I am somewhat disappointed. While Absolute converts nicely and gets large deposits, I see little for it as they don’t pay for tournaments.
So far Ultimate is not converting – and the short cookies are most likely to blame.
Either way – I can’t win for losing here.
