So I am hearing more and more chatter about poker being made a skill game in the USA and that it won’t be long until online poker will be regulated within each state – Just read another article here http://www.casinoaffiliateprograms.com/bb/prospects-look-good-for-another-u-s-poker-quot-skill-quot-ruling.34246.html?

As I am in the UK it is always quite hard to gauge the direction and feeling in the US when it comes to legal change…..Is there much chat at the moment? Does this look like something that might happen soon or am I just getting excited too early

With Party’s recent US payment, it may not be to far off that some companies begin re-entering the US!

hmm wasn’t that [party thing] just mr Dik****’s [never going to forget that surname ever btw] way of getting back into USA without getting arrested / jailed?

interesting if it’s a “payoff” to re-enter some US States in the future.

it could have been, but a lot of people are starting to speculate. The US economy (not to mention global) is in a bad place right now, so it may be that the payment was not only to pay off past dues, but also to make amends with the DOJ for future intentions.

The Dik**** thing is different from the recent deal for Party – The recent deal is all about sorting Party out – It means they have a lot more freedom in terms of megers, aquisitions, finance etc – It is very very big for them because a lot of big brands and companies were stand offish working with them before but will now be a lot more enthusiastic as Party is in effect “clean” now

Re USA – I think the recession will definitely help iGaming – Just look at California in huge debt and a shed load of poker players who see poker as a way of life – The decision makers in that state must already be looking at the revenue they can gain from a simple tax in the state for just those players – This would be massive and would certainly help the deficit there AND then hopefully other states would see this and realise actually iGaming could work and isn’t evil or corrupt but more importantly could sort their debt out –

Long time away I think but fingers crossed!

I am sure at some point the USA will budge and will probably come up with some form of allowing US citizens to play poker online in some form, maybe they will go down the road of regulated rooms governed by the various states

    This should tell you everything:

HARRAH’s, the Las Vegas gaming group that owns Caesars Palace is to install Mitch Garber, a former chief executive of Party Gaming, as the head of a new company formed to house its internet operations and the popular World Series of Poker.

The gaming giant is spinning these businesses out into a newly-created entity. The move is likely to fuel speculation over the possibility of Harrah’s making acquisitions in the online-gaming sector.

Many observers think it is simply a matter of time before online gambling is legalised in America.

Party seems very well positioned to take a stab if the gates open.

Barney Frank has a bill up as soon as congress meets again. Many people think that we are mere months from UIGEA begin re-built, dropped or something that will open the US again very soon.

Does anyone have any thoughts/knowledge on what the operators will do with the previously tagged players if and when they go back in, i.e. will the affiliate suddenly start to earn of these players again if they deposit and start playing again? Was there statements re this when they pulled out or has there ever been clarification?

It is gereally understood they will just be activated again in the original accounts.

Doubtlessly some casinos will not want to do that, but I would think affiliates won’t be promoting these again then.

    That’s what I’m hopping.
