June 14, 2012 at 12:18 pm #825404winner.comMemberHI,
Nice looking site – I hope you are getting hits for – sports handicapping – because you are top 10-15 in google
Did you just change your title tag?
I would suggest putting the affiliate banners on all pages and on forum pages (at the top and the bottom)
I would also suggest putting up game pre-views or information about 1 – 1.5 weeks advance of the event.
Plus put up current odds of sports events on a page and link to it from all pagesgood luck

Hi ShotgunPete,
Thanks for all your advice, it’s much appreciated. I did change the title tag about a week ago.
Getting some traffic for “sports handicapping.” I don’t see it as being a huge term – have to shoot for “sports picks, nfl sports picks + betting” & related terms I suppose to get big traffic.
I’ll definitely get affiliate banners on the forum pages. That’s a great suggestion I obviously overlooked. I was hoping that when the forum populates more (it’s doing pretty good for only being up a few short months) I’ll get interest from books and advertisers to sponsor parts of the forum.
Open to any and all suggestions, and if anyone here has sports betting forum experience, you can always PM me with ideas or ways we can work together.
Thanks again everyone, big help.

I have no experience with sports forums but have tons with poker forums. If you want users to get involved you need to post daily and have the posts be open ended to that people will reply.
I would imagine that you will also get some people debating picks, that’s your bread and butter right there. Just make sure to not moderate it too tightly but also don’t let things get out of hand. Name calling for me has always been allowed. Once it gets too personal or racist you need to step in.
June 20, 2012 at 12:33 am #825577KasinoportalenMemberThanks Fonzi.
The posting (and open ended questions) has started, but has yet to be in high gear. it’s going to be perfected over the summer and will be fine-tuned by football season.
I agree with you on the forum, let boys be boys but not tolerate racism and the such.
Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated.
June 20, 2012 at 4:47 pm #825606bosshoggsMemberHi domino:
Thanks for sharing your site here in the forums. Hopefully the community can be able to lend some advice.
From first glance, the site looks great. Way to go! Here are some suggestions for you:
1) Social Media Icons: Twitter & Google Plus are buried at the bottom of the page. No one is going to find them there! Get on Facebook, too! And push these icons to the top of the page to increase your exposure in these social media networks. Trust me, it works!
2) Email Capture: I would also suggest implementing this at top of your page. Great way to capture your visitor’s info and keep them up to date on special player promotions… and keep them wanting to come back to you.
3) It looks like you pump out some great content. Have you ever thought of including a search bar within the site to help visitors find info they’re looking for? This is also a great tool to review and learn what your visitors are interested in so you can focus down key content.
4) As you scroll down the site, on the right hand side, there’s a lot of open space/real estate. Could there be a way to utilize this space? Perhaps have a floating email capture to intrigue users to submit their info, and/or a floating banner promotion? Just a thought…
Best of luck to you!
June 26, 2012 at 6:23 pm #825852dantMemberIt is a nice looking site and very pleasant on the eye!
The only thing that does not look right is your little Twitter + Google+1 logos at the bottom of the page!……i would make them the same size as they do not look right been different sizes!

My main feedback would be that the pages with the red text on the dark grey background is a bit difficult to read. E.g. on the Sportsbook Reviews page, and on the Premium Service page. I think the orange headings used on the Sports Handicappers page looks a lot nicer but that is just my opinion.July 10, 2012 at 9:22 pm #826232KasinoportalenMember@fonzi 241287 wrote:

Totally agree, thank you. Great advice.

*Agreed. Thanks. Making a Banner for the Twitter icon. Not really a FB brand, those pages get taken down often in gaming and any regulated industry, not worth the time.
2) Email Capture: I would also suggest implementing this at top of your page. Great way to capture your visitor’s info and keep them up to date on special player promotions… and keep them wanting to come back to you.
*Of course. In the works.

*Great idea, just looking for a place to insert this.

*Yep, updating little by little with banners. Far from our main focus so it’s slow going for now.
Best of luck to you!
Thanks for all your comments!

I like logo and website colors. Good luck.July 18, 2012 at 3:25 pm #826442TradMemberMy advice would be to change the colour scheme, I started my first site with white on black, and it proved very unpopular indeed. However, it’s ultimately your choice. If it is a CMS, there are tools to offer alternative colour schemes form the main one, if you wish that is.
